Thanks for the info. The way folks talked, I thought it was something significant. I guess I shouldn't be surprised about Smith using the "extra parts" on semi pistols.

There's still plenty of metal guns out there. You just need to get off the Kool-Aid and stop buying Blocks.
      Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Thanks to everyone who posted those great pictures on this thread!
They all look very cool and I'd love to own one but I'm of the old school mind that thinks companies who want to reuse a classic model name should change it up, just a little bit, so we all know it's not the same old item that we (old folks) are used to.

When I think of Smith & Wesson Chief's special, or even if you Google Smith & Wesson Chief's special, the classic Smith & Wesson 5 shot j-frame model 36 revolver comes up in your mind or on the web.

And the same could be said for the new electric Ford "Mustang" (though sometimes they do advertise it with the little bit of extra name "Mach E") SUV.

Does keeping the old model name actually help sell more products? Well it must.

I'm not complaining because they're not my company but if they were I would have called it something like the New Chief's special
          or the Chief's semi special
or the chiefs special pistol... etc..

And that personal opinion is not to take anything away from anyone of these fine Smith & Wesson pistols.
