The CS 45 makes me jealous. I was always such a cheapskate I wanted a SW 457 really bad, which was the economy version made for the poors. Never got one, then the Glock 36 came out etc. that’s a really nice collection you have there.

My still modest display of the CS family -

I swapped out the original rubber for the delrin version and replaced the "no spur" hammer with a regular style.

I had a CS40 but for some reason the magazines always gave me trouble so I sold it. My only short barreled S&W is the PC Shorty 40" version -

If anyone's interested River City Gun Exchange in Sacramento has a few Smith semi types, although I don't know my "Gen 2s" from my "Gen 3s" so no idea what's what.

                    I owned a 457 for a couple of years until I replaced it with a G36.

The 457 is an outstanding pistol, extremely reliable and very accurate. It did have a magazine safety which I didn't care for but that was minor. I only sold it (to my son) since I changed to specializing in striker fired autos for HD and EDC.

There's no clear line between two generations. I have what's marked a 669, which is Gen2, but the actual frame is a Gen3 6906 with a Gen2 upper. During transition S&W didn't waste parts so it put together parts from both gens.
