Pretty gun indeed, but too gaudy for my taste.

For my 1911 fantasy, it is those Colt Government Model 1911 that were made back in the 1960 to early 1970. All forged steel, smooooth deep blue highly polished with a " wet look " , fitting of slide and frame is perfect, the wood grips were deep dark brown with dark purplish grains.

I have seen several at a gun show in Sacramento around 1998-99. They were priced way out of my working man salary. The seller had like 5 of them and they were all in a velvet lined glass case, with certificate of authenticity from the Colt factory.

I am also retired now, but still fantasize owning one of those.

While i own eight Colt 1911?s and one WW2 Ithaca, I?m leaning more toward what our allies used on the other side of the pond?.

OP, I don't criticize your dream. It just isn't for me as I don't have "safe queens". That gun would not be a safe queen in my safe. I would shoot it. If that gives you heartburn then yes, we have different perspectives on our handguns - that's all. I do appreciate your choice, however.
