Can anyone recommend me an appropriate file for fitting rear sights that need some material filed off? (from Midway or Brownells)

Just use a regular flat metal file from HD.

Go easy and do small swipes at a time.

Reminds me fo when I was trying to change the front sight on my M&P9 1.0 to a Dawson Fiber Optic.

I beat on the punch enough to preen it and finally gave up. Gave it to Bruce Gray to change for me. When he returned it, he said the factory front sight was so tight that when it finally came out, it flew across the shop.

For anyone wondering, Bruce knows what he's doing. He fitted the dovetail of the new front sight, by shaving the bottom, prior to installing
