OP, if there is one sight pusher that will do it all, it is the MGW Sight Pro. If you are using your tool 2X per year ON DIFFERENT GUNS, you can quickly eclipse the price of the MGW tool by buying different tools for different applications. With the MGW tool, you only need to buy a new shoe to change sights. MGW makes shoes for MANY different makes and models, even obscure guns like the Hudson, IMI Masada, and Archon Type B along with your standards, Beretta, Glock, Sig, Ruger, H&K, and Walther.

The Sight Pro was the only pusher that I could find that would remove the front sight on my Beretta Brigadier.

Now, if you are wed to one brand of firearm, none of this matters. But, if you like to collect different guns, "buy once, cry once" is good advice.

I have 2 sightpros and all manner of adapters for them as well as a Meprolight tool and I still find that $35 sight tool to be useful at times.
It's better than all the square ones because none of the square ones do a good job at clamping the top/bottom of the slide down against the pusher body.
The square pushers mostly clamp from one side and push from the other but without also clamping from the top/bottom, the slide rotates as you try to push the sight.

They can sometimes be found on ebay a little cheaper than amazon.
I think I paid $25 shipped for mine a few years ago but the cheapest I have seen lately was $30.

I won't question the use of a good sight tool. But, I've replaced two sets of sights on my G23 and 27 with a padded vise, and brass rod. It worked great without a hiccup. I'm sticking with the light hammer and brass punch for now.

On the easy-to-hard scale, glock sights are all the way to the easy end of the scale.
Go try some XD or old M&P front sights with a brass punch and you will see what the people are talking about with punches breaking.

Thanks, appreciate the offer but I'm a bit of a ways from Rancho Cucamonga or Fullerton, like 1200+ miles off.

Maybe tonight after football and having a few beers I'll put the polymer vice jaws on and try first a wooden dowel and progress from there. It's a G19 Zev slide and rear Zev sight. Both being from the same manufacturer I don't think there will need to be any filing. We'll see.

A drop on the rear sight and front sight, let it penetrate for a few hours.


You’ll need a vise with padded jaws. Substitute a heavier steel hammer if the sights won’t budge.

I have that hammer I use for various things last 20 years, and always had rear sights installed on Glocks... last time I used the cheap VISM pusher and it worked as easy as I imagine it ever is... seemed pretty fool proof and easy at least for steel Glock sights. Pushing stock sights you can almost do with your finger. Some steel ones need the right tool.

Personally I have ruined Ameriglo rears with a punch and hammer on a Glock they were so tight.
