AR15 based pistol - why?

For the life of me, I cannot see why someone would want a semi auto single shot pistol. I'm sure there are many but none I can think of. Will someone enlighten me

It does not remain a single shot after it gets home, although with a locked 10 rounder a must, it can be lame because of CA.

I can't think of why I would want a 600+ horse power 68 Camaro . . . o wait, yeah I can. BECAUSE IT'S COOL!!! Same goes for the AR pistol (after you fix a 10 round mag in it that is.)

Get it home and it is a 10 round .223 pistol. The single shot is for DROS only.

i see all kinds of threads in the classifieds here with people trying to trade their old stock for AR-15 pistols, i guess its the new fad. i havent seen any at my local ranges yet, it seems most people are still just getting into AR-15s (like me)

AR pistols are hardly anything "new"... They have been around as long as the AR rifle, or as long as it took a gunsmith to shorten one up some.

It's beyond the cool factor- although it is extremely cool and extremely fun. You have to fire one. It is based on the idea of portable firepower. You'll be surprised how accurate they are...you lose velocity but not accuracy...

If you have to ever defend yourself with one, God forbid: If you miss- you will burn them to death with the fireball. If they are still alive after being shot/burned/ or shot and burned- they will be deaf. By the way, if you choose to defend your home with one- you will look like the devil to a jury.
