Factory 44mag ammo looks to be $2/rd these days so factor that into your purchase decision if you don’t reload

Just my $0.02, if you’re a “semi auto guy” and want to shoot 44mag, get a DEagle

      Thanks in advance.
I would take a pass. 44mag is too painful. if you already own a 1911 in 45 you have it covered. If you want to play with a wheel gun go for a Ruger or S&W 357/38.

First question is "how to you plan on using the .44 mag?" Target, hunting or self-defense? If target or self-defense, you might want to consider a 38 special or possibly a .357. With a short 3" barrel, you are going to get a lot of recoil with a .44 mag - a lot of recoil! It won't be a pleasant gun to use at the range. Unless you are hunting large bears, a .357 will do the job, but as a nightstand gun, you'll need to be aware of the muzzle blast. Unless you are using it as a hunting revolver, consider a .357, which allows you to shoot .38 special as well. I would strongly encourage you to pass on a .44 mag. If you buy the .44, let us know when you list it in the marketplace so that we can all have a good laugh! Good luck.

So shoot 44 Special through it, or if you reload, load down a bit.

I love my 6" 629 classic, longer barrel, helps with recoil, ammo is a little pricey but worth it, I payed 1100 for mine during COVID BLM riots. I would offer 600 for it to feel him out but his price is better than fair.
Buy a couple boxes of 44 magnum, around 100 bucks, save your brass, shoot twenty rounds a range trip and your good, eventually you'll get use to recoil and improve your stance and handling. 44 special is alright, just get a box of Winchester white box 44 magnum or American eagle, no bear loads.

I've never understood the rap on .44 Mag recoil. I have Model 69 L Frame with 2.75" barrel and shoot Mags without pain or regret. I actually bought it to shoot .44 Specials but then someone gifted me quite a few boxes of Mags and I've had much fun with them. Felt recoil heavier from shooting 9mm in very lightweight Ruger LCR. I say buy it.

So, thank you guys for all the input! Took it to the range with him today and put 18 magnum loads down range. Actually wasn't to bad. You can definitely feel it but It was exciting and fun to shoot. Hand is a little sore but in a good way. Actually brings back a little added excitement to shooting.
Just holding it and looking at it, it really is a sexy gun.
I've used a S&W 500 quite a few times and this was pretty tame in comparison.
Going to dros it tomorrow and start the 10 days. Then I'm probably going to look for my next wheel gun. Never thought much about them but now I've changed my tune.

If you want to experience pain, shoot .357 Magnum out of a Scandium framed S&W 340PD snubby that weighs 11 ounces.

I'll just leave it here . . . LH, RSR and Backpackers are home runs.

                              Nice, wheel guns are great.
                              Get a 27 or 686 for 357/38 to complement the 629.
Then get a lever as well.
