I like the Chip McCormick mags. A little more $, but run flawlessly.
Really like their 10 rounders also.

Anyone else out there with S&W 1911's? I am trying to find some more info and see what people think of them. From what I hear, you can't go wrong with a smith 1911. Anyone out there have one they want to talk about please post!

Right Here!!! I, at one time, owned 5 1911's. A Kimber Eclipse II, a Springfield Mil-Spec, Colt Delta Elite, SIG GSR, and my S&W 1911. I had to get rid of 3, so after careful consideration, I chose the 2 that were the most like extensions of my own arm: The Colt & THIS one: S&W 1911 #108295bone stock

This has 7000+ rounds through it and it is still the most accurate, smooth, 'point-n-shoot' handgun I have ever owned. I can't say enough amazing things about these guns. Smith did their homework over & over before they decided to put out their own 1911!!

The only criticism that I ever hear is that some individual examples come with a loose trigger (you can wiggle it up & down) but you should be able to look for one in the shop with a nicely fitted trigger. Keep in mind that some take up movement is normal. Mine was fine and every one that I've examined was fine, but my fingers are short and I pretty much automatically swap out any 1911's trigger with a shorter version that fits me better anyway.

On the plus side of the trigger - she's sweet. Most break crisply at 4.5-5lbs. They do have a firing pin safety, which is one reason that they do have such a sweet trigger. The important thing is the way they did the firing pin safety is in my opinion head and shoulders better than Kimber's implementation. Kimber used a small pin that moves vertically and is vulnerable to damage during cleaning or even breakage. S&W uses a much stronger L shaped lever to do the same job. Where the Kimber's grip safety feels notchy, S&W's feels smooth.

I've got two S&W 1911's and I love them both. They run well out of the box, use high grade MIM internal parts, and are a great value.

I'd recommend the 45 over the 38 super if you don't reload. You will have an easier time finding 45 ammo and it will probably cost you less than the 38's.

So far so good! Thanks for the feedback already. I do reload, but I am only interested in a .45, and so far I am stoked on the S&W's. Thanks for posting the pic supersonic, what model is that?

I have two S&W 1911s - one plain jane model and the 1911DK. Love them both!

They worked fine out of the box, but I had work done to them for competition (IDPA). Great guns.

S&W 1911 DK, out of the box a great firearm. Very smooth and accurate, I love the flat trigger and two-tone. I would buy another in a heart-beat.

If you are already set up to reload for the .45, then I'd definitely stick with the S&W in a .45. It will save you the money in buying an additional set of dies and trying to find enough 38 super brass.

Make sure you get the original Power Mags instead of the "Power Mag Plus". The new followers in the Power Mag Plus won't lock the slide back on the SW1911.

Do the newer S&W 1911s still come with the loose triggers and rear Novak sites that don't sit flush to the slide? That's the only thing that has turned me off about them.
