Thinking of getting a Walter p22 ca version. Any thoughts? I like the price point $299. Did they ever fix the known issues with the p22? Do they use steel for the slide? Or are they still using zamac?

Walter P22 CA version only

We have had many threads here discussing how they can be very picky about ammo.
One of them was very recent so I don’t think everything has been solved yet.
A Buckmark would be a bit more expensive but more reliable.
Certainly not as aesthetic but I’m glad I have one.Originally posted by Kestryll:

Get a Colt. All of the guns in the Woodsman line are C&R and roster exempt.Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I have a Walther P22CA that I purchased new. It is my least favorite handgun. It is very ammo picky. Many failures, even with CCI MiniMags. Slide is aluminum. If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to. This is the last stand on earth. - Ronald ReaganComment

I rented one at a range a couple times to try out, hard to shoot more than a couple mags without getting a jam. It really did not like federal or aguila ammo, but blazer and Remington thunderbolt were a bit better.Comment

What do you want to do with it?
I have 2 P22s, I like them. I also have a Buckmark, they are fantastic.
If you just want to plink and don't mind clearing the occasional malfunction, P22 is fine.
If you might do something more serious, want aftermarket parts, the Buckmark is a better choice.Comment

Out of all the years I've been shooting, I have rarely heard anything great about the Walther P22 other than its great looks, aesthetics, and somewhat after market support.
Next to being a jamo-matic (no personal experience) I have always stayed away.
Now on the other hand, Ruger makes the amazing SR22 which directly competes with the P22, but is off roster and pricing is reflective of that."A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Okay now I’m settled between two handguns the Ruger LCRX 22lr or the ATI GSG 922 22lr. Gonna stay away from the p22. My gut has been telling me the same
