Walter P22 CA version only

I have 2 of the Ca P22's and as posted in other threads, I have had very few issues. Any ammo seems to work fine through both of them. I clean them about every 200 rounds or so. Every new shooter that shoots them say they want one. I let them know that I may have been very lucky. I really like them.

I'm the same, I have one CA and one that sits lonely out of state with its suppressor. They are fun. I bought my first just after they came out and it has seen plenty of use. I get some jams, particularly the second round out of a full mag, but overall it is a fun little pistol.

They may have a higher problem rate than some other guns, but I suspect that most people don't have any problems with them.

They are decent little guns and lots of people like to compare them to pistols costing quite a bit more.

Do they favor certain brands or types of 22LR? Yeah and so what, most 22s don't do well with every brand/type of 22LR made, they like some a lot better than others.

What do you hear about 22s in general? Try a variety of brands and types and then shoot what works best. Along comes the Walther and what do you hear? Oh, its finicky, it doesn't shoot brand XYZ well. Something about kettles.

Both the long slide and compact models shoot just fine and with the ammo they like are accurate. They aren't long barreled pistols but don't let that stop anyone from comparing them to 5" and longer barreled 22s.

I've shot both models and found Aguila works well in them and the Interceptor is as flawless as it comes. I have yet to have a failure to fire that wasn't ammo related in several thousand rounds. The ammo that failed to fire didn't subsequently fire in anything else either.

You have to like the comments about not ever having shot one but having heard they don't do well, just avoid them. And who can dispute some sales guy at a shop who has probably never shot one either? I mean who thinks any of them have shot everything they sell? Please.

Sure some examples have issues but people will spend lots of money to get certain other handguns to work well and it's almost expected, few complain. With the Walther, damn it all, how come a couple hundred dollar pistol doesn't eat every brand and type of 22 ammo made?

Anyone who has one they just think is trash, I'll give you what you think its worth since that can't be more than a few dollars, maybe the value of the metal. No takers I bet.

Mine was ammo picky but not overly so. What annoyed me was that the safety had a habit of walking from Fire to Safe. I hate "clicky-clicky" when I expected "pew-pew"... That was what made me get rid of it.

Leaning more towards the Ruger LCRx in either 22lr or 22mag.

Ruger SR22P, never a problem. Phoenix HP22A (with HP25A conversion uppers), no problems (stick to standard velocity ammo per the manual). Have multiples of both, all run well, but am aware of some people having problems with the Phoenix.

Walther P22 was great for practicing malfunction drills. Still fun to shoot, but frustrating, despite following "The P22 Bible" (improved, but still less reliable than the above).

Google the Walther P22 Bible PDF before you buy to see if you want to go through the trouble of improving the reliability of the pistol. The info is still relevant.

I came to post this. Lot's of small things that make this a great little pistol. My daughter wanted one a few years ago. It was fine on certain ammo, but once I smoothed, and tweaked a few places per the P22 bible, it is awesome. I enjoy tinkering though.

If I don't like Buck Mark then I rather get GSG 1911-22 than P-22. (All of those three are on Roster). I used to have P-22 (paid =~ $300) but I trades it for a dinner for two (less than $70).

Just picked up a P22. I couldnt find any CCI mini mags around here...so I started to brake it in with CCI target and some Norma 22lr. Both very similar to fps of the mini mags. I did put in a captured recoil spring but that was it. 400 rounds through it and it performed flawlessly. I was quite happy and dont care if I got a good one or not. I had a blast at the range and my wallet didnt hurt afterwards! Good times!
