No, and neither did most of the Sig P320s that Sig is being sued for.

But a lawyer would say it did if it wasn't caught on video to show otherwise

I should clarify, it's not that they added the safety for Gen 2, it's that the safety being present as it always has been fixes the remaining issues that remain with the Gen 2 P320. Gen 1s had issues even with the thumb safety.

The new lighter trigger and the reworked disconnector mostly mitigate the AD issue, but clicking that safety on fixes everything.

So who in the actual hell is taking a hammer to their gun? Really, I want to know. Also why in the hell are you dropping a gun? Who does that? Oh... Guns don't go off by themselves.

I’d rather my gun not go off if I drop it.

a hammer, nail and a cartridge will be fun too. a proper way to shoot a gun, i guess, right? and yes, why are they dropping the gun? when i holster a gun, i make sure it's secure. this is not a toy and a careless/carefree attitude is not a character of a good responsible gun owner.

by the way, send me your p320 if you have one. i don't want you getting hurt. if none, maybe you convince someone you know. *** don't send me the 1st gen***

With the first gen 320's, yes I had one that was later "upgraded", it technically passed all the standardize safety test. Most of them, Nato, California, ISO, test at 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees. They don't test at 45 on the back of the slide. Standardize test do not test every combination. If you want the gun to fail, just test it outside of normal test requirements. I bet even with all the material removed from the trigger, if you drop it high enough, you can still over come the spring.

With non-dropped AD's, unless a part broke, the only way to fire the gun is by moving the trigger. My thought is immediate to look at the holster used. Only way I would transport a loaded gun wrap with a towel is to put it in a pocket that has nothing else in it.

I watched the video and no, I dont think "it went off by itself."

What most likely happened is part of his clothing (jacket/shirt) got caught in the triggerguard and holster as he was reholstering. As he manipulated his clothing and gun to make sure it was in there (since he wasnt looking), the action put enough pressure on the trigger to fire the gun while in the holster, giving the appearance on video that "it just when off by itself" without the guy pulling the trigger.

Yeah pretty much every gun manufacturer does that not just Sig. You can only test the guns but so much in controlled conditions with trained firearms people. Harder to account for problems that can occur once your average citizen or gun owner gets a hold of your product.

Car manufacturers do it too with every 1st gen model they put out.

Agreed and thats what I think happened, based on the info in the story and my own personal experience with the amount of random crap women keep in their purses. It doesnt appear that the serpa she had completely enclosed the triggerguard and (I believe) some type of random crap got in there and eventually manipulated the trigger enough to fire the gun as it was sloshing around in her purse that she swings and bangs around all day.

A lot easier on the conscience to blame the rich gun manufacturer for an unsafe product than to consider your own possible negligence, since this police det is so highly trained in firearms use and safety....
