Headline should read - LAPD Buys unsafe handgun.
Not on the list it must be unsafe. Every time a cop shoots someone with an off roster handgun the scumbag lawyers should point out their client was shot with a gun the state considers to be unsafe.

        The 509 is eh.

Shot a 6 of them and the triggers are all bad. Also out of my friend's guns 4 of the 6 have broken firing pins (under 1k rounds. Lowest was under 250).

All of people are upgrading to the Apex pins now.

IIRC the LAPD 509 has a lighter trigger weight installed...I also was meh on the 509 that I ran a few years ago at Shot.

Meh, I guarantee LAPD spends more on tires per year than guns. If you want to find out the test results and other competitors, just send a FOIA request. Bet FN came in as lowest bidder. The real story on this is that US Duty Gear got the holster portion of the contract, not Safariland. Oftentimes, companies will underbid a contract like this to get name recognition. The Kimber LAPD 1911s for SWAT were such an example back in 2005. It's also how DOD wound up with the garbage M17/18.

                  That.
And the only ones who can change anything is the legislators. Why isn't there a PUBLIC outcry among the Republicans in the California State Senate pointing this out in front of TV cameras? Why don't they introduce a bill that makes "safer guns" a paramount requirement for our highly regarded law enforcement officers when it comes to new purchases? After all, that's why we have a gun roster, yes? These are the primary questions here . . .

Probably because the police unions have a lot of pull amount the Ds.

We have the gun roster because the single party ruling in Sacramento desperately and obsessively wants to disarm all civilians and this is an illegal, yet forced way to accomplish their goal. I have to hand it to our tyrants, they are brilliant strategists and when they lose legislatively or from the few sane judges in the state like Judge Benitez, they just cheat and still win. It's impossible to win against an opponent who has rigged the game.

This is true one would think a brand new gun wouldn't need this.

Worst part is if your firing pin breaks they ask you to ship it back vs selling you a firing pin

That's what I said... The fact that LAPD spec'd that as part of the requirements is nuts.
