I think you were very wise to try one out at the rental range first. That is not much of an expense compared to acquiring something like that, jumping through all the hoops, finding ammo, and only then realizing it doesn't work for you. You have paid a small tuition for a good lesson.

It was made for the movies and just to show that carbine technology can be done in a handgun.
