I bought my first handgun in 1994 from Trader's in Oakland, a Russian made high capacity Makarov(holds 13 instead of the usual 8). I took the test for my 'lifetime' Basic Firearms Safety Certificate there too.

I still have the Mak today, it was my night stand gun up until just recently. I don't have a pic of it on this computer for posting .
If it ain't broke, keep fixin' it 'til it is...

Ruger Super Single-Six convertible in 1987, traded it about two years later and have had three or four others over the years. I wish I'd kept it, but I was a one gun at a time guy until finances improved.

I think it's the old tale of getting greedy after a while and trying to rest on their laurels to justify over inflated prices. They opened up two more stores; Cerritos Armory and South Bay Armory (IIRC). Their prices started creeping skyward and I stopped going (just like what happened with B&B). Then one day they just shut down. I then went to B&E who continued the same low price model and negotiable prices.

Ruger Mk. II with 5.5" bull barrel. Bought it for $80 and it was the most accurate pistol I have ever shot. Then it got stolen out of my pickup truck while I was at my friend's house helping him assemble a bunk bed.

First purchased handgun was a Ruger KP95. I used to drink and I wouldn't buy a handgun until I stopped. Kind of my own insurance policy, but since I bought that one, it's spawned a rather nasty new addiction.

Webley Mk6 converted to .45 auto purchased in 1972. I traded it for a Marlin 39A about a year after I bought it for some reason.

WTF? There is zero wear anywhere on the 229, either of the Emersons, or the surefire. The only thing worse than not having such nice gear is having it and never using it for anything but photo ops!

What model Emerson is that by the way? I've been carrying a Mini-Comm BTS for years, but I think I like the blade design on that a bit better. Great knives. (And that is an awesome pic, I'm just teasin you about the lack of wear).

On topic: My first handgun was a Springfield Mil-Spec. I've done a little work to it myself since I got it, last thing I'm planning on is sending it out to Heinie or Novak for new sights. It's my baby, prefer it to my other guns hands down, and often carry it even though I have a Lightweight Champion that's slightly more comfortable. I don't have any good pics, I'll see if I can snap one later and post it up.
