Scratch the metal frame requirement and pick up a Glock 26... or scratch the roster requirement and look into Sig P938?

Dan Wesson- Classic Commander
HKP2000sk has a fiber-reinforced frame. Compared to my springfield hellcat, the frame is very ridged and strong. I like mine a lot. Also, if you’re ok with going up to $2000, you might consider off roster.Last edited by Mr. Blue; 01-09-2021, 8:52 AM.Comment

BIGGEST caliber you can comfortably carry. With mag restriction in CA, a 1911 in .45 is the obvious choice.

Exactly why I suggested "get magazines" if going with this option.
As you can read in my sig file I have a 1076. Had I known then what I know now, I would have bought ten or more magazines back in the day when they could be had for $30-ish each.
I was fortunate to get a supply for around $45-ish each, last year, but they are routinely listed on eBay now for upwards of $80-ish.
Magazines are consumables, assuming you are shooting the gun regularly.iTrader under old CalGunsComment

Thanks for all the recommendations, everyone.
I think I've narrowed it down to the CZ 2075 RAMI and the Sig P239
Now it's off to the store to see if I can't get these in my hand to try out...
I would say that this is more of just a fun gun to have on the permit for when I feel like carrying something different...
I agree with the poster who mentioned buying a gun around the magazines. This is why I have the 19 (w/ freedom week mags)
However, gun #3 is just something. To switch it up when I feel like carrying a metal framed gun.
I have 1911s and have tried carrying those but they're just a bit much for me.
Thanks for all the helpComment

I am a CZ fan but I picked up a HK P2000sk for CCW.
Converted it to a V1 LEM (law enforcement modification)
I also looked at the RAMI but decided I wanted a decocker for CCW. RAMIs are available in decocker but off roster.

currently on permit is a shield 9mm and Glock 19
Both are great but looking to add a 3rd when it's time to renew
I know there are a lot of options, but I'm hoping to hear some recommendations that fit these criteria:
1. On CA roster
2. Price: <$2k
3. Caliber: any
4. Metal frame
5. Action: anything but a revolver*
6. Size: small or small-ish -- not too much smaller than a shield or not too much larger than a 19. Just generally a "compact" or "subcompact" size. Not too picky but no micro pistols or large guns. Maybe nothing larger than a G17 size. I'm open.
7. Something that YOU would be okay with carrying
*no, I don't hate revolvers and I understand they are viable carry options. I have several revolvers but don't wish to carry one.Comment

I am doing a Glock 19 and when I have to be extremely discrete I have a Seecamp 32 ACP for pocket carry.

Great point sir. Currently I have a Colt Gold Cup but I would love a Colt Government in bright stainless steel for BBQ.

I visited a few local gun stores over the weekend....none of them had anything I was looking for in stock (surprise, surprise)
However, I've spent hours researching, YouTubing, etc. and I think I've landed on the Sig P229
I see that both the 229 and 229 Enhanced Elite are both on roster...
Question 1:
Can anyone explain to me the differences between these?
Question 2:
Are there any upgrades that people recommend for these guns? I would likely change out the grips, but anything else that is a "must have"? ThanksComment

Longer distinguished beavertail and trigger I believe on the Elite.
Just grips I would say.Question 2:
