"No way" depends upon whom you might know in law enforcement.

Google "fbi stolen firearms" and read the first half of the first page including the "People Also Ask" section.

I have contacted Armslist multiple times about scams. Mainly because scammers piss me off. Usually the post is about an off roster gun for $100 under MSRP that they must ship. The other day on the Eureka page, there was more scams than actual guns for sale.

I can see how this might get the hackles up if you were sending money. But you are meeting face to face at the FFL. If he has no gun he ain't gonna be there, unless he is waiting to rob you. I'm not sure what you think the scam is unless you aren't giving all of the details of the deal. Is there a deposit or some other money changing hands before the deal? Do all business inside, after inspection and forms filled out.

As a seller on Armslist I will only respond to those that send me their name and phone number otherwise they get ignored. People that want to text only get ignored after more than a couple texts and failure to answer calls. If they have poor grammar and their email reads like a Russian Operative then it’s a no go.

Yes, definitely those kinds of cues and clues to Armslist scams. Use common sense, rules, and laws....ask for phone numbers.

It’s not all scams. I’ve bought 3 times off of Armslist, from:
            — a known Calgunner, although I didn’t know it at the time
            — a 70-yr.old lady, ex-military , who had 2 off-roster favorites for bargain prices (Shadow 2 and P320 X5 Legion)

I guess I still don't understand the angle. If meeting face to face what is the scam?

Me either. Maybe afraid of getting robbed/mugged/followed home from meeting place. I think OP was trying to see what we all thought could be possible angles of a scam when seller is offering to meet.

I have had people try to say I will only ship to your FFL once payment clears and that is a scam. I have also got some really good deals on Armslist. M&P compact 1.0. Guy came from truckee to meet me in Rocklin. Also scored a P320 for less than msrp. That guy came from vacaville to meet me. So not all are scams but a lot are. Just have to know what to look for like join date, location, price, mag capacity even. If they say ship to ffl most likely a scam.

Armslist is an outright scam and is an infringement of the 2nd amendment

                      OP

Watch 10 episodes of Pawn Stars...

The portion asking about the item is to see if they know-
                      what they have
                      how they got it
                      are they the owner

Most people who have the gun can answer questions.

Many sellers will have their DROS... that's a great sign!

if a seller seems clueless- when / how acquired- eg

When did you get it... well a buddy gave it to me when they moved...
What ffl- well he just gave it to me to sell for him...

                      AVOID this deal
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
                      (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Armslist is loaded with scammers, but I did get a beautiful 1897 Mosin M91 for $200. FTF in Vegas several years ago though

Just remember, not every CA gunowner is on CG.

Good deals to be had on armslist or gunlistings.

I helped find a listing on a near new cobra with buncha extras for like $800 I posted on the deals section, and looks like a CGer took it. (At height of the virus)
