Yes, but pretty much all guns do and it's a non-issue, really.

I've read a ton about the issue and here are the conclusions of my research;

- Lots of people get really worked up about MIM, both pro and con.

- Manufactured correctly, MIM can be virtually as strong / high quality as forged / cast parts.

- Just about all manufacturers use some MIM parts somewhere in their guns.

- MIM parts are, oddly enough, usually small & inexpensive, like the slide stop. It's odd because it wouldn't cost THAT much more for Springfield to throw in a milled / forged / whatever slide catch.

- Don't worry about it, but if you are; the parts will be easy & relatively inexpensive to swap out with forged ones. I believe on the 1911, even stuff like a slide stop will require hand fitting though, so either be prepared to do that yourself, or more likely, find a good gunsmith with experience in 1911's.

if you have the full length rail. You simply pull the slide back and remove the slide lock. The full length rail will not fall out when you remove the slide. You then push the guide rod forward and press the lever on the Dawson guide rod and the guide rod is now locked with the spring. You can now remove the guide rod and then the barrel. To assemble simple do the reverse. When you pull back the slide after the slide release after it has been installed the lever moves out the way and the pistol is ready for use. I think that there are some you tube videos on it. If you have a half rail 1911 you can lock the guide rod open before removing the slide release and it is even easier.

Sounds like I should pick one up....not a bad price either.

Do you have any idea how it compares weight-wise to a stock Operator FLGR?
Hopefully it's a touch heavier; the extra weight helps soak up recoil.

I have not weighed them but my guess is that the weight difference is negligible.

I love the TRP Full rail and was my first 1911. Super accurate with less recoil due to the weight up front. Thing is like a tank 1911. I went through 4 of them because I'll sell, regret it shortly afterwards, and then buy another one. I currently don't have one but would like to get another to add to the collection.

Mine came with both G10 and the sandpaper. When did you get yours? Maybe Springfield is only sending with the G10 now?

Hmm...Perhaps, you were robbed. Mine came with sandpaper, factory installed and spare G10.

Mine has just the G10 grips. They're not my favorite. A bit rough. I generally go for the classic double diamond grips. I put several g10 double diamonds on 1911 s.

I got it on a crazy clearance sale at 400 off of the regular price. Maybe someone help themselves to the sandpaper grips at the store I got it from. it starts with a T.

Originally they came with the sandpaper ones.....for a period of time, it appears Springfield switched to the gray & black G10....they're ok, but don't really ring my bell, and especially not compared to the sandpaper, which are just super unique & cool.



I believe current production TRP Operators are once again shipping with the proper, awesome, sandpaper grips.



Just my observations.

Thanks for the info. Maybe mine was one of the ones that came with only the g10s. I'll call Springfield and find out. Maybe buy a set of the sandpaper ones. Or go get me some black double diamonds!
