The P30 or P30L is a better option for me. I did not like the VP9 system at all. They're essentially the same pistol but hammer vs striker. The P30 came around first. The VP9 seems like to was created to please the striker crowd.

      VP9... Over-hyped, over-priced (in CA), Glock copy.

Would I take one at the normal price? You bet! Its a good gun.

We both know that's not true. I called you out on it. Not even Larry can do that, shown in the video below. Or Ken Hackathorn, also shown below. No reason to get butt hurt.

I would be interested also in what score you shot on the Humbler.

I didnt shoot the Humbler, or any course of fire, with the VP, I shot the class with a 226. It was the wrong tool. I increased my abilities with the 226 but decided its not the right pistol for a Vickers class. I got a G19 because of the lessons i learned.

The humbler humbled everyone, me, the guy shooting that VP, and Larry included.

I dont claim to be a world class shooter. I didnt measure the group with the VP, i didnt shoot it on a timer.

The thread asks for input on anyone who has fired one. I gave my experience.

When I was shooting it fairly regularly I could get high 5s and low 6s. Rarely could I get mid 6s but I have.
It’s my favorite standard but I can’t break 6 now unless I shoot it more. My strong hand needs work so I drop hard there.

Good for you taking the class. You scored on having only 4 others.
I did a Kyle Lamb course and we must have had 30 attending over 2 days.

BTW there are better choices then the VP, but I already said that.

It was a great opportunity. A buddy from Denver was turning 40, and he invited about 15 people to take the class. People being people, 15 turned in to 4, and one was his brother. I scored three days with Larry in a 4 man class for a song.

It opened my eyes about sa/da. The Sig was THE cats meow when I got it...30 years ago. I've taken other classes with it, TFTT pistol 1 and 2, and it was fine.

But when everyone else had a striker fired pistol, that transition is murder with the par times ticking.

I would love to take another with the g19.

VP9 is the only HK worth having.

Truth. The standard USPs do fit better. I would go that route before a VP.

I have the VP9, the HK2000, and the USPc all in 9. Sure, I'd like a P30, but I've already paid the CA premium for the VP9.

I'm a little older, and used to DA/SA. My HK2000 DA/SA has something like 20k rounds through it (guide rod and spring replaced twice), including a two day class, USPSA/IPSC time, and steel plate time. Not one failure, and that includes a batch a reloads I forgot to crimp. Those reloads just barfed on my SA 1911 9mm.

I also have a Walther P99AS, and a PPQ M1. It's not that I like the paddle style mag release, but that's the one I trained on. Yes, there is the Inox 92FS, and the TRP 1911 and all of the others, to include revolvers.

I'm counting the days until I can take a class with the VP9, so I can get good 'gud with it.'

I wish I was a Glock guy. Life would be easier/cheaper.
