Cannot decide between Glock 17 or 19

Oh no, another which-gun-should-I-buy thread.

For the OP, there isn't a wrong choice. Should you later wish for the other one, buy the other one later.

For me, among other Glocks and handguns, I've got a G26gen3, G19gen5, G17gen5, and G34gen4. I use them all. Sometimes the hardest decision is which one to carry going out the door. Out of a couple-dozen Glocks over the years, I started with a full-size (G22gen2).

The G19 is a compromise gun, I see no point in it unless it is your only gun. The G26 is more adaptable and easier to carry - the G17 is a better range toy and sidearm. Besides, all Glock mags should be G17 mags, the G19 is just the spoiled middle child princess that demands special attention.

Anyway, my vote would be for the 17. I'm not a Glock guy at all (the VP9 is my jam) but I have put close to 10,000 rounds through this G17 and still going strong. I'll never get rid of it. Have shot plenty of 19's as well but the 17 just feels a touch better.

There is about 0.43 inch more grip height, so the finger grooves are spaced differently.

If you did not feel any difference at all, than get the G17.

For me, it's 19 and Gen2 17. Too bad, Gen5 is the safest Glock's so far.

What size gloves do you wear? Small or medium, get a 19. Large or XL, get a 17.

Then you'll want a AR15 5.56mm if you're worried of over penetration.

You should shoot both before deciding. If you aren't willing to wait to try both, I would suggest the 17 simply because it's larger and should be an easier to handle gun if it fits your hands ok. Since you tried the fit at the store with no complaints I'll assume it's good enough. Unless concealment is a priority I always lean towards the larger guns.
