I am aware. The 34 and 41 are both the "practical tactical" line. The G41 is one of the few large frame slides that have a slim slides like the 30S, 36...

I consider the 17L and 40 to be long slides 6+ inches, but I guess anything over 5" could be.

Something massive about the 40MOS with 6.02" barrel upper and the fat butter stick slide that extends past a X300U. Plus it is a 10mm out of that 6.02" barrel. You load 18 rounds and even a Glock is HEAVY and substantial.

If your no light exercise involved no flashlights, I can only think of 2 solutions that can mitigate flash, a flash can or a low flash smokeless powder.
Please go research the G19C and the G17C. It's not the .5" difference I'm talking about. It's the flash on the left and right sides from the top of the gun before the front sight that'll affect your ability to get follow up shots in the dark.

Glock 41 is chambered in .45acp. I think you meant to say 40, which is chambered in 10mm. The 10mm capacity is 15, not 18. .45acp is 13. You are correct the 40 has the longer slide at 6 inches. 41 is about 5 and quarter.

Yeah, typo. I meant this one. The capacity is 18. (17+1)

Pictured is my G41 with 18 rounds of 10mm... True that is a actual G41 (frame with a 40 MOS slide on it) We have to do creative things in CA to get what we want. There is also a G17 (non-MOS) in that pic.

Shoot both if you can. They are very similar. If the range allows, shoot two shots (or more) rapidly through each gun to see what the recoil feels like in your hands. One may shoot better and/or track better than the other for you. That will give you the best feedback for your purchase.
I find the G17 fits better for me. However, I found that shooting the G19 (with stock sights) i was able to track the sights much easier after every shot. NOW .. it might be the huge stock sights, versus the thinner FO I put on them, or it might be the gun. I don't know. Glad I have both.

If you really want one, get one before you come here. They are on Gunbroker often - there are one or two now and some G24's too. CA people who are not exempt have to find one here used or get a slide and use it on their gen3 frame, which is not bad especially if it is a RTF frame. Personally, I have three of those RTF frames.

                  Glocks are great.

Brownell's even has G19 L slides... I was tempted to try that but I already have a slide with the SI comp that has that look so I just got the standard... just got here, putting the parts kit in now. Fit and finish on these stainless nitrided slides looks great. Feels similar to stock to me.

I would only get the G19 if you ever plan on carrying it concealed. I think the G17 is superior due to sight radius and longer grip. When I carry my G19, I use a G17 mag as my reload. Reloading a G19 mag with speed always pinches my hand.

I didn’t read the whole thread but in the 2 pages I did peruse Nobody mentioned it- get a 17 then do the Glock chop. Cut the grip down for 19 mags when you get a 19 down the road. Nightstand gun and ccw gun. You will buy others. Not really aware of anyone who only has 1 Glock. There is a reason why they are so popular/common. The grip chop is very simple to do. Or fairly cheap to have someone do it for you.

My first handgun was a Gen2 G17. I wanted a home defense gun and planned on shooting steel matches so I would be a decent shot. When I got my LTC I bought a G26 when they came out. Both these guns are still used today in those roles.

If I only planned on one gun for all scenarios, The G19 would be a good choice.

OR if you buy a 19, add one of those Brownell's G19 L slides.
