Sig P226 question

I thought that the 226 was one of the ones that is on the roster without the LCI and mag disconnect safety.

If you are a new gun owner, I highly recommend that you 'invest' in some professional training as soon as the chinese virus crisis subsides. It will keep you from developing in correct muscle memory from existing bad habits/incorrect technique and save you money in the long run.

I did in fact have a professional teach me. I paid for 2 classes at 120/each back in January. He gave me some really helpful information and did correct my grip on the gun and also instructed me how to break it down. I fire much more accurately and was going to the range here 2x a week till my lord n savior Gnewsome decreed all was not needed or essential. (sorry I am really irritated with him as a person and governor)

It isnt really a safety device but...

1) If you store the gun and magazine separate in the home, a child who finds the gun cannot make it fire, even with a round in the chamber

2) A police officer or anyone else fighting with a suspect for control of their gun can hit the mag release and render the gun non-op before loosing it.

Yes , but the real answer is, policy written by politicians who don't know how firearms work. Just like how a telescoping stock is an evil feature. In their mind a telescoping stock allows you to put a 20" barreled AR into the coin pocket of your jeans. In reality we use it to adjust LOP.

There are many documented instances of the mag disconnect failing and rendering the weapon inoperable. Get rid of it unless it's just a range gun.

p220 and p239 don't have them.

Thanks for the response. Out of curiosity, is this something many police have on issue sidearms (in the US)? Seems like a bad trade off for something that can go wrong. But, I am a keep it simple kind of person.

I always think of it as a European thing, anyone else have that impression?

Here's a video I made 5 years ago showing how to remove the mag disconnect. It takes a couple minutes and you don't need a gunsmith to do it. In my video I have previously removed the pin, disconnect and spring but it shows the steps necessary. When I use the punch it's just showing where to push out the pin that holds the disconnect in place. This was on a CA compliant P226 Extreme.
