45ACP pistols on my current permit:

Kahr P45
Glock 30S
Glock 41

Next time I'll probably add a 1911 or two.

Real-world the Kahr gets carried the most! The 30S is a GREAT option, carried a 30SF prior to picking up the 30S. I like to use the 9 round mag with the Pearce baseplate when carrying and standard capacity G21/41 mags in the support side front pocket for reloads.

My most likely carry guns a few years back was 1) Kahr CW9 2) Glock 30SF 3) Glock 21. The CW9 is still on the permit but today my most likely carry guns are 1) Kahr P45, 2) Glock 30S and 3) Glock 41.

For those who argue 9mm over 45ACP I have the following three things to say:

1) I shoot the 45ACP better than the 9mm - more of a push than a snap
2) The 45ACP is slow and fat like me but hits hard
3) The 9mm with modern ammo is a great option and will not knock it. (Other than playful teasing simply because I am a 45ACP guy.) I just prefer the 45ACP, besides if modern ammo makes the 9mm equal to the old-school 45ACP ammo, then the modern ammo must make the 45ACP even better! ;-)

If I want 45ACP CCW , and Roster is not an issue (it never happen cause I live in Communist State) I will pick either two:
- Colt Defender 3" barrel , .45ACP
- Desert Eagle Undercover , 3" barrel, .45ACP.

I guarantee you won't kick yourself if you settle on an HK USP 45c. I've owned every brand here all great guns, but I'd avoid a 1911 for a serious defense gun, just my opinion. I've been kicking myself for not trying them sooner, like just 7 years ago and I go back to the middle 70's in handguns.

Edit: I just checked and my USP 45c has about the same grip feel and size as my Glock 29 sf, which as you probably know is the same as a G30sf.

And I'm going to add that the 1911-pattern pistol (as made by Colt, Springfield, Kimber and all the rest including the low-production "high end" pistols from Nighthawk, Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, etc) is the ONLY semiauto pistol *design* I am interested in owning, shooting, and defending my life with.

A quality, name-brand 1911 of modern manufacture is utterly reliable, will more than likely have improved sights and an excellent trigger. There's nothing else needed.

The DA/SA stuff has created a training nightmare for many agencies. Give me a *single action* semiauto. Give me a 1911.

False. Any comparison between guns only and guns in holster shows how oversimplified that statement is.

The slide is thin, but the slide is not the part of the gun that needs the most concealment. The standard grips are still as wide as a Glock at their widest point. Furthermore, many holsters, especially leather IWB, are very thick and that bump on the hip must be hidden. As always, the overall height of the gun affects hiding the grip.
