    Well,

It is guaranteed that the ones that are on the list today and not set to expire will still be available next year. I'll bet that if those models that are close to expiring are still in production and selling the manufacturers won't let them expire from the extortion list, seeing that w/o the idiot features they won't be able to get back on.

XD 45 Service, 2nd range report

Another 200 rounds through today... one hiccup (think I limp wristed it) in the last mag. Other than that, solid, plenty accurate, and FUN to shoot (noticably so, when ONE HANDED).

One minor issue: The mag release is a bit stiff - especially when going with one in the pipe and a full mag. Will have to look into seeing what can be done to make it a bit smoother/lighter, just a little.

My XD45 mag release button is ridiculous with a full mag. After you fix yours, come do mine too please.

Ok. I really like the new XD 45 compact. You can put two different size clips to change the handle size. This just might be the one for me

Do you really think they will make that extended mag as a 10 rounder?

Good question. I am new to HG's, what is the law? Are we allowed to have more than 10 round magazines in California?

                  10 rounders are the max.

I guess that's IT for now... I console myself knowing that in a defense/tactical situation in which I'd be changing mags, I'd likely have fired off a few rounds - the pressure is managable even downloaded to 9 in the mag. Certainly not the positive release I'm used to on my 1911's or Sigs... I'll have to do a side by side w/ my G21 too...

XD9645HCSP06 < ----- 4" xd-45 Compact in black appears to be on the DOJ handgun list

So can anyone else confirm that a 4" compact XD-45 model is CA legal right now?

I know this thread is a month or so old but I wanted to contribute MHO about the XD45. Keep in mind I live in Oregon and don't have the capacity restrictions you Californians do. I shoot a 4" xd45 service, black on black. I bought the gun for league competition shooting. I found that the factory trigger (between 5 and 8 lbs) was unacceptable for competetive shooting, although great as a carry weight. The first thing I did was send the gun off to Scott Springer as Springer Precision in Bend, Oregon. He did a 2.5 lb trigger job which is flat out amazing. I added Dawson adjustable fiber-optic sights, a hogue grip and Arrendondo +3 Bumpers to 8 magazines to get 17 round capacity.

The gun is a tack driver. My shooting buddy purchased a glock 24c .40s&w which I have put several hundred rounds through. It shoots great but with my relaoded rounds the xd45 has less recoil than the .40
The loads that work perfectly in this gun in 200gn fmj with 4.2 grn of Clays and Winchester large pistol primers.
                        good luck
