My good friend has an XD-45 and it has proven to be an accurate and reliable side arm. I have personally put 200+ rounds through it and may just add one to my safe eventually.

if you like plastic guns in large calibers, you'll most likely enjoy the XD-45

There's a whole lot to like about the XD series.

Is it true that any and all parts replacements require shipping the pistol back to Springfield? If so, that would be a real turn-off.

I shot the .45 4" model at Bullseye not too long ago. The 10 round mag is nice, and I really like the safety system. When I limpwristed it once it would not cycle though.

Never shot it or even held it but I really like it. I'm gonna own a 4" one this weekend. I like the look of the olive but think the black is likely better for carry and concealment.

Only concern is that I heard there can be occassional jams with certain 'mainstream' ammo. Any more feedback on this concern?

            What mile long grip?

Hmmm....the new XD 45 Compact, G19 sized .45 ACP pistol!

I personally like 9mm because the ammo is cheaper. I don't ever plan on shooting anybody so having a smaller caliber doesn't really bother me. Even then I still believe it comes down to shot placement anyways.

Springfield has a new XD 45 model out. Pretty cool how you can have a different sized handle and amount of ammo.

Not cool if you live in CA.

I've been looking at that compact though, looks a lot better then the standard grip. This will be my next purchase after the OLL.

Let's hope it gets on the "Drop test" certified list before 1/1/07.

i have shot the xd 45 and i own the glock 21. The grip is smaller compared to the glock 21 and i did not notice the length of the grip when shooting. The xd was very reliable and I will be getting one sometime next year.

I think I may hold out for the compact. We can only have 10 rounders anyway. My brother is picking up the XD45 Service tomorrow.

Check out suronenterprises.com. I just bought a 40 caliber XD from him. His prices and fees are pretty cheap. He is in Guerneville, west of Santa Rosa about 20 minutes.

                              Better be careful on waiting.
What autos will be available in Ca next year?

As i am looking at my first handgun, the XD series looks nice. The prices doesn't seem to bad either.
