    Springfield XD 45

Does anyone on the forum own or shot the Springfield XD45? How reliable is Springfield?

Very reliable. The only thing I don't like about the XD45 is the mile long grip. Even with both my hands holding it there is a little that stick out the bottom. I would not mind it if we could have all 14 rounds but since we only can have 10 it bugs me. My CZ97B is my Go-To 45 pistol. Don't get me wrong though, the XD45 is a great pistol.

It seems like a great package at a great price. I can't wait to go try one. It is now on my top 5 list.

I like my XD9 so much I wouldn't have a problem dropping coin on an XD45 without even shooting one to see if I like it. I want an XD of every flavor some day.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

                  so far, so good

Too bad the 2 tone Dark Earth didn't make it on the list... really wanted it. Picked up my 4" Service 45 XD on Sunday and went straight to the range.

150 rounds of 230 gr FMJ, 100 rounds of lead semi-wadcutter, and 3 mags of assorted random hollowpoint later, I was pretty impressed. Had to drift the sights over a little left, but that's about it. If all goes well next few times out, I'll be retiring my G21 as my "house gun"... the M6 slips right on, and the grip aids more controlable one handed shooting.

I may pick up a 5" Tactical as well, before getting on my 1911 horse again. Been getting distracted by other threads lately (used police trade-in SIG P225, HK P7M8, and of course OLL stuff). The price point of the XD 45's is hard to beat. I say GO!

I've never shot the XD45, but I really like my XD9 4". I put another 350 rounds through it over the weekend without a single hiccup - 115gr FMJ, 115gr JHP, and 124gr +P JHP.

I liked my Bitone XD40 service so much when I first got it, I went out and got the OD XD9 SC.

I do like variety though and I am still after some of everything.

sorry for the thread jack, but just a quick Q for u guys, XD 40 or XD 45?
seems like the 40s&w is more common, which is the beter caliber for home defence/plinking, i have my eyes on the XD 40, just wondering what u guys were shooting. and sorry for the thread jack!

My Bro-in-Law has one and lets me shoot it. I really like it and will probably buy one for myself at some point. I have too many other guns on my shopping list though.

I was just thinking as I'm writing this...I could probably get the XD45 now without too much hassle from the wife. She's been wanting a 45 and I've been wanting a XD45. I could buy myself the XD and give my wife the slightly used P90.

I love it when a plan comes together.

i was thinking about getting a XD-40, so i went for a test drive at the range that rents guns. the one i had was a ported model.

i loved everything but the double trigger setup. for some reason, that triger safety was making my finger start to hurt after 25 rounds or so. nothing i couldn't get used to, but enough for me to hold off (for now)

The barrel porting was pretty nifty. i was getting nearly ZERO muzzle rise. makes double tapping a piece of cake, so don't count out the ported models...

granted, i had the .40S&W model, but i'm sure the XD-45 would be the same way.

The XD40 can be converted to 9mm or .357Sig by swapping out the barrel. http://www.pistolgear.com/proddetail.php?prod=37EFA I have no experience using conversion barrels since I have an XD9 and it cannot be converted, but I saw this product and thought it was pretty cool. Out of curiosity, anyone ever used one of these?
