I have a lot of Altamont grips and I really like them. But last week I got a set of Coke Bottle repros for a Mod 29. They have that same look as the Pythons - very, veeerrrry smooth with no pores, and faux looking. They have no soul.

At least those Python grips are a nice looking dark wood. My coke bottles are too light.

I asked Altamont about refinishing them or darkening them - and they said they do not stain these grips. They are just finished with BLO or similar oil. They suggested I apply some more BLO to see if they would darken.

At least you can't argue with that fit - those things are fit perfectly on that Python.

Think the Detective Special on that list anytime soon or we stuck with just the Cobra?

Now I’m wishin I held onto a pair of grips!

These are on my 22 Officers Model Match. ( Same frame as the Python). These will go on the new Python. They are real wood with nice color. After that the original 1963,Silver medallion grips go back on the 22.
