HK vs Sig

I've got a USP45 and a P226 9mm.

While the USP is bigger to hold, it doesn't seem to be a problem. The SIG feels better in my hand. The USP seems like its a better designed combat weapon. USP gets less grummy than the SIG (design?). I'm more accurate with the USP than the sig. USP is a bit lighter. SIG trigger is much worse than the USP - more lb and seems snappier.

Both are great guns. Shoot both, see which one you like more

I have both. I think you are splitting hairs. I would reccommend what someone else said, go out and rent both and decide for yourself. Whats right for me is probably not right for you etc.

Both are GREAT freaking pistols so you wont go wrong with either.

I believe there are two kinds of hand guns, Sigs and other. No seriously at this level it is like others have said, a personal preference. My experience with HK is limited, tried out my friend’s P2000 once. Not bad but I would not buy one. I have 2 Sig’s, a P229 in .40 with a .357sig conversion that came with the gun that I have only used once, and a P226 in 9mm. I have never had a malfunction with the P229 which has about 2500 rounds through it. I had my first malfunction in the P226 a couple of months ago when it failed to lock back on empty. It has well over 20,000 rounds through it (based on the number of cases of reloading components I have gone through) and is starting to have a little slide rattle but if I had to guess I would say that the malfunction was either due to the fact that the mag is around 15 years old and could probably use a new spring, or a light load. I fire primarily reloads at the range which I make by the case though I have fed it everything from match ammo to defense rounds to mil surp in addition to the reloads. I also hate safeties and if carrying in a holster with a DA pistol that it is safe to do so, I do not use it even if there is one on the gun. People were saying that the HK’s grips were too rough. One of the few things that I do not like about the Sig is that the grips are a bit on the smooth side. I took a fine point soldering iron to an extra set of grips I had and made a deep texture on them to roughen them up. I find Sig’s reliable and comfortable would not carry anything else if I had a choice. I will admit that this could be in reverse if I had cut my teeth on HK’s was used to them.

Can't go wrong with either. Best to try before you buy. I prefer the SIGs as they're much more ergonomic than the HK's. The only HK I really like is the P7 but good luck finding the M10. I think both will serve you well, just have to see what features you like, don't like and what feels good in the hand.

Owned both, loved both

I noticed that when I was shooting hot ammo, the USP40 seemed to feel a little more pleasant. Both are great pistols IMO. Sig fit my hand a little better.

Get both! I own both. They are totally different types, designs, and styled guns. I think HK makes the best polymer pistols while I think Sig makes the best pistols in non polymer. Sig HAS the much much better, lighter, crisper, smoother, and shorter pull trigger than HK. But the HK P2000 trigger is much much better than the HK USP line. Maybe closer to Sig's but has a bit longer creep than the Sig. Both are darn reliable and accurate. Price-wise, they are about the same. Sometimes one costs more than the other depending on your area, and supply vs demand. HK obviously has more felt recoil than Sig being lighter and plastic. Sig feels more solid and heavier. But the HE finish on HK is much much better than Sigs nitron or blue finish. I prefer alloy framed Sigs over their stainless even though I own both. The recoil on the alloy framed Sig is not significant enough for me to sacrifice that lighter weight of the alloy pistol. Overall, I prefer Sigs but HK seems to be more combat minded than Sig.

I just bought myself a used HK USP 45 for $450(which I think is a good deal). My bosses both own Sigs and have told me nothing but great things about them. I just don't like the way they look, and I know that shouldn't matter, but I'm superficial like that.

I've had both Sig 229 .40 and HK .40 USPc. I liked shooting the Sigs better than the HK, but the Sigs weren't as reliable. (I bought 2 because the first one wasn't reliable and I knew they should be). I have the HK sitting in the safe someplace but haven't seen it in years.

I don't know about the warranty of HK but I do know the warranty of Sig leaves alot to be desired. All things being equal the plastic gun should last longer with less maintenance. I think it is easier to get parts for Sig I believe
Brownells is now carrying them.

I prefer the Sig because I like the feel of a metal frame and have the option of adding wood grips to it. I also prefer the Sig trigger over the HK. Accuracy is about the same for me with both guns.

Sig has excellent CS! They take care of their customers right. There are more parts for Sigs as well, and a call to Sig CS usually takes care of the problem with either them shipping you a part you need for free or if more serious, ship the gun in for repair or replacement. With HK, you try to call their CS? You're lucky if anybody answers or cares. You're better off going to a gunsmith. Sig's CS is top notch secod to none, and is one main reason I prefer Sigs over HK.

I own both Sig Sauers and H&Ks. I love them both and would recommend them both.

The USP series has never been a favorite of mine... even the later revisions with less harsh grip texturing still leaves me a lot to be desired.

The P2000 is an excellent pistol, and I quite like that. But it's not much of a comparison to a Sig of any model, it's better compared to the Walther P99 or Steyr M series or any other 4th gen pistol perhaps...

I would gladly take a P220 or P226/9 over a HK USP in either .45, .40 or 9mm without hesitation.
