    HK vs Sig

Thinking of getting a HK or a Sig in 40 S$W. Probably regular barrel length 4" or so. What have you got and what are your likes and dislikes? Anybody have the HK Expert Model?

Between the 2, I'd probably go with a Sig. Nicer trigger and has an alloy frame. Why not get both?

Sig. I carry a 226 in .40 on duty and trust my life to it. NEVER had noe failure to feed or failure to fire. It's been over 6 years now. I don't know jack about HK.

        i have a 229 in 40.

sometimes i feel i'm more accurate on that, than my 226 in 9mm...

For the HK, I suggest the P2000 V3.

polymer frame vs. alloy frame. i would say if you are looking for a .40 caliber then go with either a p226 or p229 depending on your preference.

I favor the HK USP above the Sig P series. Either way, Germans don't f*** around.

Im an HK guy myself. I have nothing against SIG. I just love me my HKs . I would recommend going to the shooting range and renting both. I have 4 H&K hand guns and love all of them equally. I understand how alot of people do not like polymer guns, but I see nothing wrong with them. I actually prefer my H&K USP expert .45 over my Springfield Armory A1 loaded (1911). I also find my polymer guns easier to clean. I don't think you can go wrong either way. I have to say, I personally do not enjoy the newer models P2000, 3000. I like the original USP. I own a Sig mosquito and plan on picking up a 226 Navy Seal edition. With all this said, the hand gun I keep for home protection is my glock 17

I'll add in another vote for Sig. The current crop of HKs isn't doing much for me, however I absolutly LOVE my P7M8.

I walked into Turner's the other day when I went to purchase my P225 and I saw their very first P7M8 in the counter, sitting no more than 6 inches away from their FiveseveN. I just about soiled myself over the new options until I realized I didn't have the money for either. The fates are cruel my friends.

Back to the subject. I prefer Sig because it tends to be a nicer more compact design. HKs tend to feel bulky to me, except for some of the smaller ones. I prefer the Sig feel but the HKs have damn fine triggers (I double tapped my first time shooting one trying to find the trigger reset - it's THAT clean). It's a hard choice, but I give my vote to Sig (at least in an all around vote).

For me, the thing(s) about HK's are : I don't care much for plastic, the grip does not feel comfortable with the cheese grater texture, the grip is also a bit too wide, and I think the Sig has a better trigger.

Problem is: I also shoot better with my USP9, compared to my 229 and 220.

So I guess I am a Sig person, but a closet HK fan. Shhhhhhh....

I know where your coming from. My hands look like waffles after I go to the range with my USPs. The reason for "cheese grater texture" is for a better grip, while shooting with gloves on. Have you seen how big the trigger guard is on that gun? You can pretty much wear mittens and shoot it! Well probably not. But I guess its cold in Germany. Im sorry to hear that NEO. You would really like the P7M8. I gotta say, don't work yourself up too much. Although its exremely accurate and a great design, it heats up very quickly. I can't shoot more than a hundred rounds in a half hour time period.

I put my head in my hands and scream when someone compares the P2000 to the USP series, such as the harsh "cheese-grater" checkering, trigger charactristics, and overall ergonomics. It tells me that persons making such claims have no experience with the P2000. I own multiple examples of the P2000 and USP. The P2000 made improvements across the board. Size-wise, the P2000 is like a USP Compact, and uses USP Compact magazines. The SA trigger of the V3 is outstanding, meaning very smooth, and very light. The P2000 is thinner than a USP, and definitely thinner than the Sig-Sauer P226, P228, and P229. I consider the P2000 one of the finest combat pistols I own.

Dammit, look what you've done. Now I have to go seriously check out the P2000 LOL!

I don't have any problems with the drip texture of my USP Elite, then again I run a 20LPI mainspring housing on some of my 1911s (contractor hands!).
