I own both and have for awhile, my 586 is pre-Hillary hole a -3 model. Because of that I’d take it over my SP-01. A newer -6 with the hole would make it a much tougher choice.

If I was in your shoes I think I’d get a SP-01 before a new model 586, but if it’s an older no hole 586 the CZ would have to wait.

I love my SP-01 and am partial to the 9mm cartridge, but I’ve been drooling over a beautifully blued S&W 586 at a local shop. Hillary hole or not, it’s still a beauty! I just don’t know if I want to get in to another caliber.

I have to go with the CGN obligatory answer and get both!

What handguns do you own now? The very first handguns I bought did not help my marksmanship skills. I wanted to get better and came up with basic plan to acquire range worthy 22lr pistol and rifle. I was lucky to have friends with revolvers and semis which they let me shoot. After shooting my friend’s revolvers I noticed how accurate they are, and they can double duty as a hunting sidearm. They also advised me to learn to walk before running. As much as I wanted to get a 1911 in 45 next, my practical side said to get a Ruger GP100.

            If you DON’T have a .357, you NEED a .357 - hands down.

              I have a newer 586 classic and it's a great revolver. I don't have a SP-01, but I do have a 75BD, which is also great.

Of the two, I prefer the Smith&Wesson.

I would go with the 586 and make it the 6" barrel. Revolvers tend to be much more fun to shoot.

                  I'd get the 586

I love CZ's, but a finely made revolver will likely hold value more than a semi auto.

That's a hard call. I have an Sp-01 and a 586-4. I shoot the CZ more, but the 586 is a sweet shooter, and quite the looker.

I'd say it really depends on what you already own.
The actual value of above $.02 is less than $.01 after taxes.

^This. I have both. Because you don't have an all metal 9mm, you must add it to your collection. Reason is that it will be so must more pleasant & fun to shoot compared to polymer 9mms. On the other hand, you must add a .357 revolver, because you don't have one & you can shoot .38 specials thru it also! Only drawback is .357 ammo is more expensive than 9mm. If you have the funds, get both! If you have too many polymer 9mms and funds are tight, sell a polymer 9mm and get an all metal 9mm. I find that a lot of my polymer pistols are pretty redundant.

Not having an all metal 9mm makes it a bit tougher, but I still voted for the S&W. I have a CZ-75 and an FEG Hi-power clone, and I do love the metal framed 9mms. Revolvers have their own allure, though, to me. I have more centerfire revolvers than I do semiautos, mainly being magnum revolvers.
