What 1911 next...?

I'd add a 9mm. Cheaper ammo to shoot and still effective. The Springfield is vey nice.

I really want the new bobtail 4" EMP in 9mm. I just need to find one that is somewhat local.

Out of all those 1911's, why is the Professional your favorite? Is it because you spent the most money on it? Does it shoot more accurately than the others? Does it feel the best in your hands?

For me, my Wilson Combat CQB Elite feels the best in my hands, looks amazing but doesn't shoot as accurately as my Les Baer Premier II which costs 1/2 the price. So if anyone asks me which 1911 they should buy, I would always recommend a Les Baer because it's the best bang for your buck.

I love how it is simple looking but extremely well built. The older Black T finish has a nice sheen to it which makes for my favorite finish. Although it is not a drastic difference I can tell I shoot more accurately with this one over the others.

I've never shot a Les Baer but every thing I hear about them is how accurate they are. I need to get my hands on one of them soon and try it out myself.

You can bob tail an EMP4, I was going to do it to my EMP4 before I sold it.

I would agree with two of the trends on here. In order of priority, I'd get an old GI 1911, cuz a good collection of 1911's just isn't one without an old GI. Next, I'd get a Les Baer. You get A LOT of bang for your bucks. It is my favorite and it is a workhorse. There is a purposeful tool-like aesthetic and feel to a Les Baer. If you can't find one at Turners, call Crazy John at 1911 Heaven. He stocks a TON of LB and even has specialty runs of CA on-roster 1911's.

Their quality just isn't what it used to be. My FFL has been getting in the new production Gold Cups and I've handled several different ones and they're just built so loose. At $1400 I except much more. Thats the same price territory as the TRP and Dan Wessons.

This is a true statement.

My brand new 9mm GCNM rattles almost as bad as my Springfield Armory 9mm Loaded Target did. And cost $400.00 more. Trigger rattled in frame, slide on frame, bushing is loose and it was missing a grip screw.

Colt's been living off the brand name for too long. Not sure what I'm going to do with this one, maybe make it nice, add BTGS/hammer, new bushing and magwell? Maybe leave as is and let it gather dust, maybe...

You have ruined it for yourself when you bought the Early Springfield Professional. The fit, finish and performance is difficult to match.

Having shot many 1911s - the Springfield Pro is still the 'best' 1911 regardless of price point. Though the Korth is very nice, they are not available in the US anymore if I'm correct. There just wasn't a demand for that kind of pistol.

Have you thought about branching out and going from 1911 to 2011 - with the double stack frames with STI? Perhaps go 10mm instead of 9mm?

Just saying that the Pro hit your sweet spot just like me. I've ventured out but Springfield Pro, in the old configuration just can't be beat.

This is what I did and I never wanted any other 1911 again. Nothing compares to a custom you spec'd yourself. The caveat here, and I'm saying this because your guns look pristine: Use one of them hard,(compete, carry, shoot.) Only then you'll find out what you really want in a custom slabsider down to where you need checkering and how fine, if you need certain features or not, what style of sights, etc etc without regard to how cool it looks.

There's some people on this forum that $4k is the amount of their cheapest 1911. Just like anything, you get what you pay for.

I paid $3500 for my Professional about 7 years ago and it's worth every penny.

You're to blame for that. I came to you and that's what you recommended. Knowing your collection and what you've owned/shot I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. It was expensive for a young person like me at the time but it's been worth every penny.

I've been thinking about a 10mm 2011, just haven't taken the plunge yet. I'd really like to handle and shoot one before I do. Do you have one? If you do bring it with you next time we go shooting. I'd like to try it out.

As I sit here thinking about it, I believe it is analogous to a short, fat guy buying expensive, designer made custom suits.

My shooting or lack of shooting skills makes it silly to spend that much on a pistol when I am incapable of exploiting the pistol's abilities.

Think I will stick to the sub 2k at most and much lower category. I have spent 10k plus on a weapon before - but that was on verified real/not faked German WWII sniper rifles.

Do these 4k plus pistols have "collector" value or just "use" value as I believe - ?

If you’re interest in 2011, may I and many others members before me the in thread recommend a STI. I picked mine up today and had an opportunity to put 400 rounds down range without a single skip in beat. I was skeptical at first with reports of faulty mags, finicky regarding ammo such as ftf, fte and so on but not the case.

I’ll be real, finding a dealer here in the Central Valley was difficult. I didn’t want to purchase one not being able to physically handle it. The dealer I went through hooked it up with a slight discount but I’m seeing a few here in the market place with additional mags, holsters, and a few accessories that I’m shock they are still for sale.
