What 1911 next...?

As I sit here thinking about it, I believe it is analogous to a short, fat guy buying expensive, designer made custom suits.

My shooting or lack of shooting skills makes it silly to spend that much on a pistol when I am incapable of exploiting the pistol's abilities.

Think I will stick to the sub 2k at most and much lower category. I have spent 10k plus on a weapon before - but that was on verified real/not faked German WWII sniper rifles.

Do these 4k plus pistols have "collector" value or just "use" value as I believe - ?

On one hand, I see your point. But, by the same token, it isn't merely the body type of the person buying the suit. That $2k suit will look much better on him than a BOGO from the Mens Wearhouse. There are a LOT of other items to consider. The $2k suit will last much longer. It will be made of much better materials. Every last detail will be refined and painstakingly crafted. It will be made specifically for that person and no one else. It will fit that person perfectly. There are details and touches you won't get on a two-fer-one suit sale.

Same with a Wilson, Nighthawk, Ed Brown and Baer. Many times, these are crafted to exactly the buyers specs. (Mine LB is somewhat). Because of that, I do shoot it better. Because of that, I do have a much better 'experience' when I shoot it. Because of that, I have a certain level of satisfaction that I won't get with an off-the-shelf 1911 that doesn't fit my personal specs.

So, if the buyer has the dough, let him. If he enjoys the finer things in life, then go ahead. There are things I can and can't justify buying. But, I DO appreciate the nice stuff.

No Turners up north, is there? Will go look at a stock Les Baer so my 1911 collection won't look so shabby.

I agree with those suggesting a railed 1911, unless you just don’t care for them. Some do not, but it is the only glaring weakness in your 1911 collection.

You've got an amazing collection of 1911s.

I'd probably look for a USGI 1911 or another vintage 1911 that would qualify as a C&R.

Otherwise, I agree with the railed 1911 or 2011 suggestion since you've collected non-railed examples so far.

Two random suggestions would be to pick up the .22LR GSG 1911 (fun plinker) and/or the .357Mag Coonan 1911 (if you can find one).

Have you looked at Cabot? Their entry line is the same price point as wilson, Nighthawk, Bear and others. They are not on the roster, but I pcked up my Monarch locally and theres a few other people in my area with with them. They are absolutly perfect.
