What do you want to do with it? I’ve owned a lot of revolversover the years, Rugers (7 or 8), Taurus (2), s&w (3) a few others. single action, double action, compact carry, 4”, 6”, 8”
First, all 357 will handle 38 special.
Unless you only want to shoot cowboy action don’t bother with a single action. If you get a single get a Ruger new model vaquero or get a reverse pawl kit, otherwise they can be irritating to load
If you aren’t going to carry it get a 4” or 6” they are both great sizes, I prefer 6 and I had a dan Wesson model 15 with 4” barrel once that for whatever reason had wicked (and cool) muzzle blast
Ruger are built like tanks, not as refined as smiths, but can handle anything I’ve still got three. Taurus are great for the money. I had an ultralight shaved hammer 85 once that had the ejector get froze on my first range outing but their warranty took care of it, (I always remember that story for all the guys that say revolvers won’t fail you) One of my brothers has a Taurus 7 shot 6” and has had no problems and likes it
S&W are my favorites. I know a few guys that shoot revolver division USPSA, they all shoot Smith’s. Lots of choices, lots of support and so on. I like the 8 rounders setup for moon clips
they have more options on roster than anyone I think

Ruger GP100 in stainless is a very solid and great shooter.
I got mine used as an LAPD buyback gun. It had holster wear and looked like a well used gun. It took a lot of cleaning, but it turned out to be one of my favorite guns. It handles well and is very accurate. It's one that I'll probably have forever.Comment

Agreed. Just bought mine used a few months ago. Took my girl to the range and had her shoot it. Her exact words were "oh, this is my gun now."Ruger GP100 in stainless is a very solid and great shooter.
