First time with the DEAGLE (50AE)...!

It was a terribly late and tiring day at work, so, I decided to head out to the local indoor range... To FINALLY try out the Desert Eagle in 50AE!

Rental for non-members is $20, and each round is about $5 (Hornady 300GR XTP).

So, seeing/hearing lots of "fails," usually due to the recoil - I loaded it with just one round.

Set the target at 7-yards, and while nervously anticipating the first shot - BANG! It wasn't that bad... I guess the recoil thing was just over-rated and hyped...

Oh well, so, I loaded the remaining 4-rounds and fired at a faster rate. Still managed to get all rounds in the "orange" ("center mass") area of the target. Follow up and recoil is definitely not that bad... Albeit, I got a reprimand from the SO, as this range has a "one round every 2-second rule." Hehehe...

I definitely need to try it again - got 10 more rounds and with my GoPros turned ON (one was with the SO), I set the target at 10-yards. Fired (this time, at a slower rate of fire)! Woot...

Looking at my groups - it definitely wasn't that bad. However, it did identify a deficiency in most probably my stance (I was keyholing up). Definitely need to work on that...

Good thing that I didn't buy the Desert Eagle, when it went on sale my my LGS, before trying it out first at the range. It definitely comes with the FUN factor and WOW factor - but, if I did get it, it will most probably become a safe queen. Well, unless, action shooting organization would create a Big Bore division.

Oh yes - as I've read/heard about - the spent cases that get ejected from the Desert Eagle can get FRUSTRATINGLY annoying (it's straight into your face)!!! Hahaha!!!

$5 per ROUND? Christ. I hope you saved that brass, even if you don't want one now.

In fact, I did... (Due to the Komiefornia Ammo Ban, need to get into reloading in the near future - just figuring out a reloading setup)

Yup - a couple hit me in the nose... It seems mine was mirroring what Mr Guns N Gear in his channel:

You paid $100 for 20 rounds of 50 AE? Free state price for a 20 round box of 50AE is about $35, and with specialty ammo are not no where near $5 per round.

Well to be fair, he had to go through and pay for a background and fingerprint check before receiving each round, so that's where the money goes ...

And yeah ... if I ever had one, I'd be reloading the same 10 cases over and over again at that price!

                    Hahahaha!!!

Welcome to the state of Komiefornia!

Hahaha! I'd consider it way cheaper than actually buying a Desert Eagle at $1,600 (excluding tax) plus DROS, etc. Then getting ammo...

                    Won't you agree?

Especially that after just a few rounds, I find it more a novelty gun than anything else.

Next up - if I can find some range or someone with a S&W500.

Really? I shot the DEAGLE in FT3. Maybe I didn't see the S&W500.

Hhhhmmm... I am right handed but left-eye dominant, so, even if I shoot Iso, the sights of the pistol is more aligned to my left. Could that be a reason?
