Revolver thoughts

I've shot the KC side by side with my Bro in laws Colt Python many years ago. I remember thinking I liked the Python better.

I have the gp100 revolver and its a workhorse but not as nice as my SW...and an SW 629 Classic......SW makes some great revolvers.

My uncle had a beautiful 6" Python. He let my dad shoot it a few times, and my dad went to go get one but then saw the price tag. He wound up with a nice S&W 686-6 instead. Not a bad choice - it's a great shooter.

I've got a mint Python that I paid a whole bunch of money for that is still in it's box... I wish I could bring myself to shoot it.

Really? I would have thought the Ruger fanboys would have objected to the insult!

As far as the choice the OP is trying to decide between a King Cobra and a 686 Competitor - if this is going to be more of a safe queen, collector's item, that he hopes to sell in the future for a significant markup, then go for the Colt. If more of a shooter, get the Smith.

I've owned about 10 different Smith revolvers and have never been disappointed with any of them. My disappointment came when I realized I'd sold or traded off a fine gun.

Ruger revolvers are fine too, they're extremely durable, but that's because they have as much metal in them as a Soviet tank. They're also about as pretty and well-finished as a Soviet tank.
