Of course, the plain jane Nitron finish is no slouch so it's all about preference.

Locally they have the 220R Black and 220R Combat FDE. Both at $999 the Combat is $100 off supposedly.

I hear XDM with aftermarket slides are notorious for light primer strikes! I have never experienced that with any Glock I have owned with factory or aftermarket slides.

Well....Geo, with the factory slide my XDM works perfectly fine like your Glock does. Aftermarket parts can sometimes be a gamble but you know is not a gamble? The ergos on my XDm modded still kill that glock. Might as well toss the frame and just buy a 80% to make it feel more XD like. LOL

The combat has haunted me for years. Its either going to be that or a legion sooner then later.

I like Croatians, Mirko Crocop, Croteam games, etc... just fine. I don't like my XD9 though. XDM's are good. Like the Canik's, if we had them on roster, I'd have some XDM's.

You have stated it your self, winning a Military contract has little to do with the attributes of product that is up for consideration but more to do with politics, relationships and investments in paybacks to be considered at a later date.

Glocks, Sigs, HK's, S&W's all do somethings well and somethings not so well. I would personally want a combat gun with less parts that can break, so I choose the Glock!

Exactly. A Gen 3 Glock is almost as good as it gets for the roster.

Everything is a compromise. For example, my 2 Shields, which are excellent in their own right, took quite a bit of effort to get them to where I wanted. Removed the LCI and mag disconnect which was took a little bit of effort. Wanted to change out the trigger since the original ones sucked but to do that, you have to remove the rear sight which is very tough on the Shield. So had to bring it to my gunsmith.

The Glocks, on the other hand, are simple to get it to where you want. No mag releases and pop up LCIs to deal with either.

And at the end, when you mod the Glock, not is only easy to do, but the end product is outstanding. Accurate, durable, reliable. I always wondered why many of the top shooters in the world run them and now I know although I did not get it at first when I didn't know as much as I know now.

Here's mine and I love it. The RMR let's me put those fat .45 ACP rounds in the black almost every time at 50 yds.

I have an XDs 3.3 45. I wish I could get the Mod 2 version of it.
My XD .40 is loads of fun to shoot. The best part is the trigger, after the XD ultimate trigger group I fitted to it.
XD has the best striker fired set-up out there, even in stock form.
