Personally, I find the P2000 in 9mm (DA/SA) to be one of my favorite pistols for carry purposes---smaller than the P30 or VP9---sleeker than the USPc---the trigger does not bother me on any of those pistols, but I am not a trigger snob---I shoot so many different pistols, revolvers and rifles---all with a different trigger system... My other smaller pistol is a P2000sk in 9mm with the "light" LEM trigger---smaller still, but shoots like a full-size pistol for me at most defensive ranges...

The Glock points very differently, it's cheap, available, and I don't care if I bang it up (I think of it as a CCW commuter).
I'm surprised the P2000 and G19 are so close in price. I remember them being closer to $800.Comment

I see your point, I just feel that the P2000 is closer in dimensions to the G19 and the VP9 is closer in outer dimensions to the G17 (as demonstrated in the picture above). Either is a valid comparison in my opinion.Comment

Tell me about it. When I purchased my P2000 v3 about 6 years ago, I paid about $1000 for it because Obama was going to take everyone's guns away, haha. Seriously though, I was looking for a P2000 in 9mm for a while and it was the only one that I could find in the Bay Area. In comparison, I picked up a P2000 v2 9mm about 6 months ago and it was soooo much cheaper, even with the LE version that comes with an extra mag and Mepro night sights.Comment

all are great guns. the P2000 is the best of the three for carry. and its on roster and priced pretty well ( for an HK). got mine in the LEM trigger.
if you go off roster also look at the P30SK and VP9.
some advantages of the P30 is you can get an S version that has a lever safety 911 style and it can me carried hammer donw or cocked and locked.
the VP9 has the best trigger but I dont feel its willlast 90,000 rounds like a P30 will.
there is also the P2000SK again Id get it in LEMComment

I consider the VP 9 to be "in between" the G 19 and the G17 in size. In fact the dimensions of the VP9 are almost identical to the G19X....OK.
I agree on width, but length in both slide and grip are bigger on the VP9.
G34/17 on the bottom, VP9 in the middle and G9 on top.
The G19 was not one of OPs considerations (which I agree is an oversight as the 19 is an awesome pistol), but I would compare the VP9 size more to the G17 than the G19 especially for CCW purposes.
A simple photo comparison of JUST the G19 and VP9 would have been more helpful. Using three guns and not offering a straight profile shot of the two with the G19 on top of VP9 makes it harder to see the differences visually.
The stats below are taken from the HK and the Glock websites....The only real difference between a G19 and the VP9 is a 1/4 inch in thickness and a 1/2 inch in grip length. To me those are not significant differences but as the case for everything, perception is reality.
HK VP9
Length 7.34 in.
height 5.41 in.
width 1.32 in.
barrel length 4.09 in.
Sight radius 6.38 in
Glock 19
Length 7.36 in.
height 4.99 in.
width 1.18 in.
barrel length 4.01 in.
Sight radius 6.02 in
Glock 19X
Length 7.44 in.
height 5.47 in.
width 1.30 in.
barrel length 4.02 in.
Sight radius 5.94 in
Glock 17
Length 8.03 in.
height 4.43 in.
width 1.18 in.
barrel length 4.48 in.
Sight radius 6.49 in
Why do you think this? I have almost 30,000 rnds thru my primary VP9 without a single malfunction and no other issues. They both have polygonal barrels made from the same steel.....

I didn't have the VP9 as an option.
I have big hands and didn't like the p2000 grip.
it was between the P30 and the USP compact for me....and I got the compact- great weapon.
My g23 [with 9mm barrel] hangs up for some limp wristed female friends....they can't NOT make my HK compact fire every time.

Had the p2000 v3. Loved the gun, didnt shoot it all that well and hated the trigger. After reset there was a ton of takeup.Comment

I carry the P2000sk, the smallest HK.
Some people don't like the rubber pinky extension; I cut and buffed mine off.
You can also buy flat base plates, or get a pinky extension.Attached FilesComment

Thoughts on the VP9SK? A good buddy is moving out of state and looking for a good CCW. He's shot my P2000 and likes it.
