    clarification on HK models.

Checked out HK USA site, looked at 9mm models.

    P2000, VP9, P30

Roster aside, what are the thoughts on P2000 vs. VP9 vs. P30? PS. Strictly for carry.

You can still get the P2000 new, it's a tad smaller than the P30. It'll be cheaper than both the P30 and VP9 ($600ish) if you don't come across a screaming deal. That makes it easier to throw around knowing it isn't "exotic" IMO.

I like the LEM V4.1 in both

The VP9 and I didn't mesh, mostly because it feels like H&Ks cheapest manufactured pistol and we pay CA premiums. It's not bad, but it's not USP expert good either.

The P30 is my favorite shooter, upgraded it put the striker VP9 to shame. The ergos are better on the P30 than the P2000, but I'd carry the P2000 as it's easy to replace and 1/4 smaller in all dimensions except thickness.

      I have a P2000 and a VP9 and had a P30L before moving to California.

The short answer is, they are all good. But here is a brief summary of my take on H&K's.

I think my favorite is the P2000 LEM as it is better for concealed carry. I can easily conceal mine with an AIWB sidecar style holster. It is small enough to easily conceal and large enough to handle like a full size pistol. I also feel the build quality of the P2000 is better built compared to the VP9. My only gripes are the higher bore axis, capacity is only 13 (in free states) compared to 15 rounds in the VP9/P30, expensive mags, and somewhat longer than ideal trigger reset.

The VP9 is still a very nice pistol with very good ergonomics and a nice trigger. Recoil is softer in a VP9 compared to Glocks as well. It's larger than the P2000 so it might be harder to conceal for some people. The bore axis is substantially lower compared to the hammer fired H&K's and the capacity in free states is 15 vs. 13 in the P2000 (they also use the same magazine body so you can use the 15 round mags in the P2000). The downside to the VP9 is larger size = harder to conceal, capacity vs. the similarly sized G17 is less, and they are expensive off roster and mags are expensive.

I carry the P2000SK. Anything larger will likely be infeasible. You will want to get the larger mag release paddles and perhaps some combat or (in my case) big dot sights.

^ This is a HK45 part, it fits perfectly.

I have a vp9 and I love it. I do agree that it doesn't feel as premium as a hk45, usp, or a sig 226/229 for that matter.

But compared to other polymer framed strikers, it's up there. Probably my second favorite pistol I own at the moment.

I have a P2000 LEM and love it. I think it's the perfect carry gun. I shot a VP9, but it was after I already had a PPQ, so it did not interest me at all. After I got my P2000 I have stopped looking at HK's........... except for the USP 45 compact.......... that will be next and it will get the LEM conversion.......

OP have you considered a USP compact?

I have a full sized USP so don't know how the compact version shoots but it sure felt nice when I handled one at a lgs. Felt more solid than the p2000.

I don't understand your question. Do you mean CCW or exposed carry? For CCW I prefer a smaller and or thinner pistol. I have carried the USPc and P2000sk.

The P2000sk and the P30sk are the same size, but he P30sk has a better grip in my opinion.
I would say the P2000 is ever so slightly slimmer than the USPc but I don't the ink the "official HK " specs back that up.
For me and CCW, I think the grip of the VP9 is too large (especially for a 10 round limit).

My opinion of them is that they are all great guns and worth owning. Here is a rough size comparison between the pistols you mentioned but I added the P2000sk and the USPc as I think they are a valid option.

I would compare the VP9 to the G19. If you own both just lay the G19 over the VP9.. the real difference is primarily a slightly longer grip...length and width are VERY similar to the G19.

Seriously... "take the challenge" and make the comparison.

Owned all 3, my personal preference in order. VP9, P30, P2000. I like striker fired guns and the P30 like the VP9 feels so much better in your hand than the P2000

                            OK.
I agree on width, but length in both slide and grip are bigger on the VP9.
G34/17 on the bottom, VP9 in the middle and G9 on top.
The G19 was not one of OPs considerations (which I agree is an oversight as the 19 is an awesome pistol), but I would compare the VP9 size more to the G17 than the G19 especially for CCW purposes.
