I went thru the same process almost bought a glock 34. But decided not to, still never owned one. Not so fond of the grip angle

If you decide to buy a used one, make sure to ask the seller what 'improvements' they've made. If they start bragging about all their mods, run away! There are way too many kitchen table glocksmiths and way too many sub par aftermarket parts. There are a few good mods and most are easy to do. I just don't trust a lot of other people to do them.
If I were going to buy a used one in .40, I'd find a police tradein G22. Might have a little holster wear but typically have extremely low round count. Should be able to find them for $300-$350.
As other's have said, $150 gets you a 9mm conversion barrel and a couple of mags if you want some flexibility.Comment

Yea, 22 is on the list. I'm pretty anal about mods on any brand. I like to see papers if they did do mods. Hmmmmm, another thought I had. I only keep 2 sub compacts (SC) in my safe/collection. I just got a CZ Rami 9mm (which led to my MP Shield sale)...but it means I still have two 9mm SC's. My other is a Sig 290rs and hasn't really seen light for awhile so I may post that on the horse trading lot and maybe go for a Glock 42. But does the .380 give me true "Glockness?" I do want to add a .380 back into the collection and my original plan was to seek a SW Bodyguard to take my SC slot. I do want another .40 and the price point is there with the 22 & 35 .Comment

You want a 19, 20, and 30. Or you could go super crazy and get a 17 instead of a 19 or a 21 instead of the 30.Comment

in my opinion get a 19 if there is ever a remote chance of applying for CCW, if its just to go and have fun at the range a 17 or 34 would be the way i'd go..
they're 9mm so you'll always be able to find ammo.. I guess you could make the argument for the 40s/w versions as well but how often are you going to do a barrel swap?
you should probably just go with whatever round you have stockpiled at home be it 10, 45, 40, 9.
get yourself a full-size, compact, and sub compact and then you can use the same mags in each gun as long as you're going from a larger frames mag to a smaller frameComment

I Love My Glock 20 (10mm). Have Glock 17, 29, 32 & 21.I've owned guns for about 20 years now. I've owned Taurus-Ruger-Charter Arms-Beretta-S&W-HK-Sig-Chiappa-CZ but never a Glock. Never liked the Glocks looks and couldn't get past that even though they are great shooters.
I currently have a MP Shield for sale and a buyer lined up. But before the buyer, I got an offer to trade my MP for a Glock 23 Gen. 3. It got me thinking and web surfing. The more I read/learned, the more the Glock grew on me. Kind of like that average looking girl who looks prettier when you get to know her cool personality (or the inverse of the hot girl looking ugly after she proves to be a bitc....well you get the pic).
Well, the guy changed his mind about the trade but mind is made up and will parlay the proceeds of the MP towards my first Glock. Looking for a .40 range toy. I know .40 is out of fashion and hated on, but I like the caliber and seems like these sit on the marketplace longer which is hopefully conducive to me acquiring it at a $400(-+) price point. Looking for suggestions and trying to avoid any models that blow up
. There is a G35 that's been sitting for over a half year that I may consider, but before I do, would love to get recommendations.Comment

I loved the Gen 1 hand fit in G17 and G21 but the recoil was odd and difficult to get back on target. Recoil from the Gen 3 G17 and G21 comes straight back into my palm and I can keep my sight picture. I have an extra Gen 3 G21 with a LaserMax recoil guide rod spring laser, three 10 rnd mags and a thigh holster sitting in my safe. Thinking about putting it in the classifieds, PM me if anyone is interested.Comment

I have 4 Glcoks.
My first Glock was a G35. I now have a red dot sight on it. I have been shooting it recently using my USA1Shot pistol brace and it is a 100 yard gun! www.usa1shot.com.
My second was a G21SF and It is still my favorite and I shoot it best of all.
All my guns are Gen 3, I don't like the texture of Gen 4's and Gen 5's. As far as the triggers go,, go put 800 rounds thru the gun to break it in, and if you still haven't figured the trigger out go shoot some more. It is something that must be learned and you can't really "buy" your way out of it.
I found a G36 .45 ACP single stack and I haven't really shot it enough to get good with it. It got the same treatment as the rest along with some extended mag base plates which give you a better grip on the small gun.
My most recent is a G23 and I got it specifically to be my bug out gun. I just got a 9mm barrel from Brownell's for it so I can shoot 9mm ammo in a pinch.
All my Glocks are set up the same way with a Glock Extended Slide Catch, and Extended Mag Releases, all have after market sights, and the G23 got Tru-Glo tritium fiber optic sights which are like having neon lights on your gun in either night or day. After a trip to Front Sight I shoot it as good as any of the others. I do this so there is no cornfusion as to how to run the gun, they are all the same and I can do malfunction clearances at will with anyone of them, and they all point and shoot the same as they all have the same 5 lb triggers.
IMHO Glock pistols are the best thought out pistol in existence, and the fact that there are plenty of copies out there and more coming everyday proves the concept is here to stay. The fact that they are battle proven in every theater of conflict in the last 40 years doesn't hurt either.
You can't go wrong with a Glock and as far as the .40 S&W being obsolete, I say BS. The only reason why 9MM has become more popular is because the ammo is cheaper. That is also why the Army went with the Sig P320, it was cheaper than the Glocks..
People talk about new ammo making the 9MM more effective than .40 or .45 and I say once again BS, cuz all the things they have done to 9MM to make it more effective, they have also done to .40 and .45 and they are bigger to begin with.
With Bullets,,, Bigger is always better!

Thx for the writeup and Glock porn. Still in the hunt for the right one. Rented a 23. It was fine and all but I want something more substantial. Was going to go with a 42. But opting to pay $600 for a $700 Sig 380 instead of paying $700 for a $400 gun. Off roster is not that big of a deal for me and not worth the premium.
