I highly recommend running white lithium grease on the rails of a tight 1911 with a fitted slide or a gun grease like tetra or MIL-COMM Products Company TW25B grease. As I said earlier, tight slide/frame fit and 1911 are mutually exclusive in most cases.Last edited by OCEquestrian; 03-06-2018, 6:48 PM."Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. Custom 1911s from quality manufacturers with tight slide-frame fit should feel like the slide is on ball bearings. The wise man said just find your place

Not every tight fitted slide is necessarily a good thing. If racking the slide feels like trying to break open a rusted lug nut, they left it to you to do the lapping part. At the expense of your ammo, of course.Comment

I sold my Pro, and my TRP's, RO's, Loaded. LB is where it's at 👍**** your feelings!Comment

I took one on trade. The fit was impressive, but after 200 rounds of factory ammo and repeated issues, I dumped it.
I’ve got a brown executive target and a super grade that are much better guns imho.Last edited by Franklincollector; 03-06-2018, 8:57 PM.Comment

OP, on a nice 1911 like that, use Wilson ETM or Tripp magazines, only. I've never encountered a single malfunction with either, as far back as I can recall.
Also, I follow the protocol suggested by Nighthawk Custom: clean with Gibbs Lubricant (a CLP), lube with Gun Butter. It has worked fine for me.Comment

Downgrade to a SA MC Operator. Those are great 1911s. I have one and my neighbor. Both have been flawless and mine shoots steel, brass or aluminum case ammo.
It has all the features that you may need or want and none that you dont.Comment

So do you feel you got what you paid for with this over $3K 1911? Curious what other 1911's you have shot and how they compare to your SA Pro. Do you shoot tighter groups with the Pro vs others?
I'm trying to see the value behind a SA Pro and why so many people say it's such an awesome 1911. I've read that there isn't much difference between 1911's in the $1,500-$3,500 range other than fit and finish. Accuracy should be about the same if shooting 25 yards or less.
Can anyone educate me about the big difference between a TRP and a Pro?Allegedly, about $2K worth of a gun Smith's time to fit an extra tight slide to frame and certainly 4 extra magazines with the Pro model. Sorry if this is disappointing anyone.
It also costs the government an extra $2250 giving the Pro model to the employees who could not tell the difference between the Pro and the basic Loaded model, nor can they shoot it any better.
In practical use, there is almost no difference between the Pro, TRP, a Dan Wesson PM7, or any other 1911 which is a little better fitted than the rattley old GI ones.
The FBI went after the best pistol for its SWAT-trained agents. The result was a highly customized 1911A1 from spring field Armory\'s Custom Shop. Following a controversial test that pitted Colt, Kimber and Springfield Armory against the country\'s foremost custom gunsmiths, the Federal Bureau...
And the TRP (Production line version of the Pro, but with more hand fitting than the Loaded version).
