I highly recommend running white lithium grease on the rails of a tight 1911 with a fitted slide or a gun grease like tetra or MIL-COMM Products Company TW25B grease. As I said earlier, tight slide/frame fit and 1911 are mutually exclusive in most cases.

Custom 1911s from quality manufacturers with tight slide-frame fit should feel like the slide is on ball bearings.

          Excellent point.

Not every tight fitted slide is necessarily a good thing. If racking the slide feels like trying to break open a rusted lug nut, they left it to you to do the lapping part. At the expense of your ammo, of course.

I took one on trade. The fit was impressive, but after 200 rounds of factory ammo and repeated issues, I dumped it.

I’ve got a brown executive target and a super grade that are much better guns imho.

OP, on a nice 1911 like that, use Wilson ETM or Tripp magazines, only. I've never encountered a single malfunction with either, as far back as I can recall.

Also, I follow the protocol suggested by Nighthawk Custom: clean with Gibbs Lubricant (a CLP), lube with Gun Butter. It has worked fine for me.

Agreed, for 50 rounds that is really trashy looking

Downgrade to a SA MC Operator. Those are great 1911s. I have one and my neighbor. Both have been flawless and mine shoots steel, brass or aluminum case ammo.
It has all the features that you may need or want and none that you dont.

I'm trying to see the value behind a SA Pro and why so many people say it's such an awesome 1911. I've read that there isn't much difference between 1911's in the $1,500-$3,500 range other than fit and finish. Accuracy should be about the same if shooting 25 yards or less.

Can anyone educate me about the big difference between a TRP and a Pro?

It also costs the government an extra $2250 giving the Pro model to the employees who could not tell the difference between the Pro and the basic Loaded model, nor can they shoot it any better.

In practical use, there is almost no difference between the Pro, TRP, a Dan Wesson PM7, or any other 1911 which is a little better fitted than the rattley old GI ones.
If you really want to know the differences, here are a few articles about the differences. Primarily, what goes into a Pro.
