Yep, if done properly. Underwood most certainly produces great ammo. But is it Kaboom proof? You decide.



I doubt you'd be able to find an ammo manufacturer that has not had a kaboom or a recall.

Until its rendered unserviceable, it would have to be treated like any other firearm.

I definitely recognize the value in reloading.

That being said, I've been collecting tools and components for years and am just now starting to reload. I'm practicing my due diligence in researching all I can in understanding what is necessary to load safe and reliable ammo.

I've been collecting loading manuals, reading various forums, watching select youtube vids, and speaking with several people who have loaded for years and am doing my best to extract as much good information as I can to best understand what it takes to accomplish what I want safely.

Safety and consistency in reloading really just comes down to being cautious, observant, and diligent in safe handling practices.

Catastrophes like that kaboomed Python are caused by user error. Implying it was caused because of reloading is like saying guns are responsible for killing people, and not the person holding the gun.

LOL, Colt Pythons though beautiful were never meant to handle the 357 Mag all the time. This was well known back in the day and these were $500-$700 used back in the day.. like Rolex, Panerai, Louis Vutton,... Colt learn how to over advertised their products for inflated prices...

Okay, I'll bite. I'd argue that this firearm has been rendered unserviceable. It has been permanently altered to no longer load or fire ammunition. So, for someone who knows better than I do, has this revolver been rendered unserviceable and can it be transferred as parts?

Not being a smart @ss here...I really am curious how this would be determined.

I heard it 2nd hand so I cannot absolutely confirm. It may have been the sellers rounds. Either way, the guy left in an ambulance.

The most frustrating part about reloading is the variability of the powder drop.

This is clearly a double charge and way outside the variability of a progressive powder drop. User error.

I am however always on the lookout for the magical 100% consistent power drop. I haven't found it, so all the ammo I make for matches I individually weigh each powder charge.

When I crank them out for practice ammo I get anywhere between 4.0g and 4.5g (with 4.2g being my goal). I'm using 700x for 185g 45ACP.

I have learned, when something in my press gets messed up like a jammed primer, or a crushed case, and I'm forced to REMOVE the base plate to reset everything I clear the entire press out and start from scratch. I don't put cases back in partially completed. That's where things go bad.
