I have wanted either a 1911 or a 45ACP polymer pistol for a while but can't make up my mind on which to get...any thoughts and advice for a relatively new gun owner looking to expand his collection with nice toys?
    How about a gen4 G41/G21/G40/G20

Those are all on identical frames so uppers are interchangea. Guncrafter also makes another conversion kit for that frame, the 50 GI.*

The G41 can be easily switched to G21, G20, G40 + .50 GI and .22 conversion slide. Potentially six guns in one frame! My G41 is target comp model, G21 and G20 and .22 have fixed sights. The G40 is MOS/target model with adjustable sights and is Red Dot or Reflex Sight ready. I will most likely mount a Leupold Deltapoint Pro on it for hunting next season.

Good luck, be safe and have fun!

For a smaller polymer .45, I love my G36. Got it as part of a trade, and couldn't believe how nice it shoots.

With a 2k baer, how can you stand the trigger in the striker fire?
I cannot stand the fire control group(as imo) it has no trigger, in my 36...

Glock is easier to strip, 1911 is my go to.

I'm sure he did not. But if he is interested in any gun he owns, he should learn as much as he can about function, right down to the basics.

FWIW, a quality 1911 has great resale value. With that said, the CZ97 is terrific

While the premium 1911-pattern pistols (Ed Brown, Baer, Wesson, et al) are certainly nice, many here including myself probably cannot shoot *up* to them. Save a little dough and spend it on a merely-decent 1911 and as your shooting fundamentals improve, perhaps some trigger tuning.

You'll be perfectly fine owning and shooting a 1911 with a price in the neighborhood of a grand. Springfield's "Loaded" model, either parkerized or stainless, will feed everything you give it and give you the ability to hit 12" steel plates at 100 yds, offhand (no rest to stabilize the muzzle). I have two of these, both Government sized (5" barrel). For just a tick under two large, look for a Springfield TRP.

You'll like shooting the Loaded so much that when you consider a carry piece, you'll want a (near-) micro .45auto. I chose a 3" Kimber.

Your first 45 has to be a 1911. After that I’d try and find on off roster Sig P227
If you find yourself in a fair fight, you're doing it all wrong.

I haven’t noticed any 50% ammo increases? Where are you shopping

What I meant was is that 9mm is $8 online and $12 at LGS...it will only go up I'm guessing

Unless I come into a "surplus" of cash to afford a nice 1911 DW, LB, WC or even SVI Infinity, my pick will be a Sig 1911.

Otherwise, I say pick up a G21. As others have stated, you can swap, G20, G31 slides, Guncrafter Ind. .50GI, etc.
