    Can't Decide on a 45ACP

These damn new ammo laws are a joke. I just compared prices at my LGS and they are already 50% higher than online so I am stocking up on calibers that I don't even own guns for!

I'm going to turn this situation into a positive and use it as an excuse to buy a new gun in a caliber that I don't currently own but I'm stocking up on, 45ACP. I have wanted either a 1911 or a 45ACP polymer pistol for a while but can't make up my mind on which to get...any thoughts and advice for a relatively new gun owner looking to expand his collection with nice toys?

      What do you currently have?

If you want a 1911, I would get a Dan Wesson or something better. I say this, because you will likely start dumping money into it, so you might as well take care of it on the front end with some factory work by professionals. I settled for a kimber, when I was younger and impressionable, and I regret, like think about it every time I pick up my kimber, not dropping another 400 on a Dan Wesson. Actually, anyone want a cdp II?! It's great! At ejecting spent shells, into your forehead!

If you cannot afford a Dan Wesson, or 1700 for a single gun in general seems kind of crazy, then I would get a G21. Heck you can get a G20 and a G21 for the price of the Dan Wesson, and stock up on two kinds of crazy expensive ammo!

Its hard to compare a polymer 45 and 1911 in the same category although they do shoot them same caliber. I started with polymer 45 pistols but ended up switching the collection over to all 1911s , once you go 1911 you never really go back

I currently have a G34 and love the way it shoots and the way it easily comes apart..I wanted to get a smaller version in 45 so was thinking about a G30.

The other side of me tells me to buy a 1911 because no collection of pistols is complete without one..I recently played with a $1800 Les Baer and it was nice

G21 is a fine choice. If you are dripping with cash, Nighthawk 1911.

                  In polymer, I like S&W M&P 45.
In 1911, I like Sig TTT or Dan Wesson.
Also, S&W 625 PC or 625 JM (if you don't mine initials) are great .45 ACP revolvers, love moon clips.

Still got to tell us what you have already. If you are shooting sigs or something, and we are all in here telling you to buy glocks and 1911's, you are going to have some weird range days.

Get one of each. There a several on-roster choices in each category.

I don't know what your budget is, but the 1911s made by Armscor and sold under different brands are good value. https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/...+8%2B1+45ACP+5

                      Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

                          I'm a new shooter so have only a small collection of handguns, a 9mm G34 Glock, a 686+ S&W .357 and a 340PD .357

I just bought my first 1911 a month ago and I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to pick one up. It is such a joy to shoot.
