    1911 vs HK USP 45

How's it going everyone, so I really like the USP 45 for its rugged reliability but I also love the 1911 for its cool factor, I was looking at a Springfield range officer. It seems that a 1911 is not as reliable as an HK USP. If you had to choose one, which would it be? Thanks

Far too general to be a statement of truth.

I'd pick whichever feels more comfortable in my hand and shoots accurately, naturally without much fuss. Both guns are overrated. Both guns function as designed. The only difference is, which one do you like more and work better with.

No one but you can tell which is best for you. No one.

A quality 1911. Higher maintenance, worse reliability with a wide range of ammo, much better ergos and shootability than a USP.

Shoot both, figure out what you prefer.

Not in California. USP 45 is limited to 10 rounds in California and there are 10-round .45ACP magazines available for the 1911, so that's a wash.
                Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

a standard 1911 mag is 7 or 8 rounds is it not? You could say the same about the Sig 220 and 227 if that's the case.

USP all day long. Newer design. Reliability and durability. Capacity and ease of maintenance.

Universal selfloading pistol.....I would say both cause any collection should have both in the line up! If I had to choose just one for an all around do everything it would be the USP its a great gun, reliable, and accurate....

I have many 1911's that are 100%. Will feed anything and I maintain them properly. I recently found out my USP would not reliably feed Freedom Munitions to my surprise. So I ran 100 rounds of HST's through it to regain confidence (I carry it) and it did not disappoint.
If I HAD to choose one, it would be my Ed Brown commander.

In California and in .45ACP, the 1911, USP 45, SIG P220, and SIG P227 all can carry and are limited to 10 + 1 rounds, so "more capacity" isn't a reason to choose one over any of the others in California.
