1911 = hands of all sizes can make a good solid grip. Easy to shoot and remarkably accurate. With proper maintenance, it is as reliable as any handgun.

HK USP = meant for Gorilla hands. Also accurate but has lousy trigger and feels chunky. Very little maintenance needed.

The single action on my USP Compact is far from lousy. It's just as good as any 1911 I've ever used.

Try to shoot them both. I have a Wilson and a USP Expert. I easily shoot the 1911 better due to it fitting me better. Even though I shoot the 1911 better right now, I am really drawn to the Expert.

I say if the HK agrees with you hand pass on the standard USP and get one of the Experts for 899. The trigger on the Expert is pretty nice.

Lastly, I have never had a single issue with any of my 1911's which includes shooting competitions (i suck btw) and multi day pistol classes. 1911's being unreliable is overblown in my mind. The reliability of the USP is not overblown IMHO.

            Shoot both, buy both.

Is that the fancy new double stack clip technology?

Meh, i had an USP for 18 years and never loved it, only loved the military connection of it. I understand why people like it, and it's damn easy to strip down, but I didnt like the way it felt in my hands, didnt like the trigger, and I grouped poorly with it. My MC operator shoots circles around it and makes my targets look like the guy pulling the trigger knew what he was doing. I sold the USP gladly to a fellow CG'er and will use the money to buy a G20 or EMP.
