    EGW and team rocks

I just got 2 1911's back from Evolution Gun Works, and I must say their service and work are great! I'm really looking forward to shooting school with the wife this weekend with the 2 guns.

Lead time for EGW prior to sending my pistols in was 12 weeks. And they had my guns in the shop for about a month. Compare that with most other top end gunsmiths, and it's pretty darn good!

Gun 1 - Springfield milspec. My goal for this gun was to have an "ugly" using gun with good internals and great accuracy/trigger. Worry about asthetics later. . . I wanted a gun to be able to shoot the crap out of and draw from holster a lot.

    1. Weld up frame rails and fit slide to frame
    2. Install match barrel/bushing (they chose Kart)
    3. Install fiber optic front sight
    4. perform 3 lb. trigger job. (it must've been a nice gritty 8 lb. pull before)
    5. Fix loose Bomar someone else installed.
    6. Fix loose ejector
    7. Crown barrel.
    8. Test fire

Gun 2 - springfield 9mm loaded 1911 . .. this one is my wife's gun, and it has always run very well. The gun was not up to par in the accuracy department out of the box with shots stringing all over. I didn't want to roll the dice with Springfield's regular service so I thought I'd do it once, do it right:

    1. Standard accuracy job on factory barrel (weld barrel hood and fit)
    2. match bushing.
    3. test fire

I was a pleasure dealing with George and his team at EGW. They went out of their way to work with my schedule and get the guns back to me in time for class. No regrets, and I know where to go if I need other work done. I highly recommend EGW.

Whew, I almost blew my stack when I saw EGW. I thought maybe it was EGSW (Evan) and I was getting ready to start a flame war.

I'm guessing EGW is Evolution Gun Works??

        *ahem*

Do not make the mistake of assuming that dodging the filters with $'s is encouraged or appropriate. I've seen two folks do that here within the last couple minutes, and I'm attempting to stave off an epidemic here. The language filters are there for a reason, and it isn't just because of DOJ personnel names.

I clarified my original post. .. Yes this is George Smith and Evolution Gun Works. I have never heard a bad report or review EVER of their work or service, and that is one of the reasons I chose them along with their downright reasonable if not bargain pricing for gunsmithing work. I'm a happy camper.

For Black Talon. . .. . Fine, twist my arm. . . I'll post some pics. I didn't post any prior because there was no cosmetic work done. . . in fact, the black pistol's finish was somewhat damaged, but c'mon . . they welded the frame rails top and bottom. . . and it still came out being ok. That's some meticulous welding if you ask me. I was anticipating a compulsary re-finish, but they went in and surgically did their magic.

None of the cometic flaws are the result of EGW's work. . . these are pre-existing conditions. (Remember.. . .it's my "ugly" using gun) The Bomar was not installed by EGW, the beavertail was not installed by EGW. All the bling is inside the gun The stainless 9mm gun looks as stock except for the ebony grips which I made and the match bushing.

George (EGW) has a really loyal following with the m1911 forum folks too so you made a wise decision going with them.

Sure love gun porn of shiny new, perfect custom guns...but there's something fantastic about pics of people's well-worn, well-used, trusted guns!

                  Well,

My wife and I just got back from shooting school together this past weekend, and both guns have a whole lot more holster wear but it's nice seeing how confident she is with it now.

Both guns ran well, and shot great. . . that stock loaded 9mm is a tack driver now through the stock barrel. I'm a happy camper and the wife is confident with her hostage rescue head shots. Loads of fun.
