I just got 2 1911's back from Evolution Gun Works, and I must say their service and work are great! I'm really looking forward to shooting school with the wife this weekend with the 2 guns.
Lead time for EGW prior to sending my pistols in was 12 weeks. And they had my guns in the shop for about a month. Compare that with most other top end gunsmiths, and it's pretty darn good!
Gun 1 - Springfield milspec. My goal for this gun was to have an "ugly" using gun with good internals and great accuracy/trigger. Worry about asthetics later. . . I wanted a gun to be able to shoot the crap out of and draw from holster a lot.
1. Weld up frame rails and fit slide to frame
2. Install match barrel/bushing (they chose Kart)
3. Install fiber optic front sight
4. perform 3 lb. trigger job. (it must've been a nice gritty 8 lb. pull before)
5. Fix loose Bomar someone else installed.
6. Fix loose ejector
7. Crown barrel.
8. Test fire
Gun 2 - springfield 9mm loaded 1911 . .. this one is my wife's gun, and it has always run very well. The gun was not up to par in the accuracy department out of the box with shots stringing all over. I didn't want to roll the dice with Springfield's regular service so I thought I'd do it once, do it right:
1. Standard accuracy job on factory barrel (weld barrel hood and fit)
2. match bushing.
3. test fire
I was a pleasure dealing with George and his team at EGW. They went out of their way to work with my schedule and get the guns back to me in time for class. No regrets, and I know where to go if I need other work done. I highly recommend EGW.

The stainless 9mm gun looks as stock except for the ebony grips which I made and the match bushing.
