Are upgraded glocks worth the money?

    Hello,

I am curious about these "super glock" that have the super nice stippling job, upgraded trigger and other small parts, flared magwell, zev slide and barrel, with an rmr on top.

    Similar to this...

As it looks like, a set up like that costs about $2000 for a gen 3 glock 19

Now I hate the feeling of oem glocks.. iv had a glock 21 sf, glock 42, and glock 43 and I wasn't a big fan of either of them and resulted in selling each and every one of them.

Do these upgrades really make the glock that much better? Would it make someone like Me who isn't a fan start to like them? Il admit they look cool as all hell but how much of a shooting difference will spending $2000 on a glock make?

Considering building one from a frame but not sure il end up liking it and finding one already upgraded to examine and shoot is a bit of a challenge

I shot a couple and they are cool. I do not own one. Lot's of dudes love them.

Sounds like you're looking for people to talk you into getting one. If you really want one, you probably wont have any problems getting rid of it if you dont like it. I like all Glocks and think they are perfect out of the box and I dont think I would ever spend a dime on a pimped out tacticool Glock unless I won the lottery.

        No. Enjoy your $500 pistol.

Maybe you can impress the folks with $1K Mossberg 500s but the rest of us know better.

Nothing wrong with playing dress up with your toys. But I suspect the laws of diminishing returns apply to such an endeavor... I'm all for some sights or a trigger, when you exceed the initial price of the gun - you've gone too far.

I mean c'mon, Gaston designed a pretty simple brass emptying mechanism; it's an effective shovel - no need to try to make it into a backhoe.

If you spent $2,000, it's no longer a Glock.

You can polish a turd all you want, in the end, it's still a turd.

So they don't dramatically change the experience of the firearm?

If I hate the feel of an oem glock 19 I'm Gonna hate an upgraded one also?

I think it all depends on the term upgraded. I have seen many Glocks that someone decided to “upgrade” and it was a disaster. Just because someone spend money to modify a gun does not mean it came out well, or is worth the money invested.

I would be very careful about buying a gun from someone just because they “upgraded” it. Often times it is not worth the original cost, let alone the “upgrade”.

Keep in mind the design engineers spent considerable time, money and computer power to get the original design right.

What makes some home mechanic think he can do better in his garage?

Now, having said that, I do have a full built ZEV 34 that I am very happy with. All depends on who does the work and what exactly was done, and of course what the gun will be used for.

As an example I see no value to an after market flared mag well or a super target trigger on a home defense gun.

Eagerly awaiting HopetonBrowns commentary on this one...

Personally, I think that upgrading a Glock defeats the whole premise that is Glock; a simple utilitarian reliable tool...

I like letting people spend their own earned money on whatever they want.

I may point and laugh if they gold plate it, but it doesn't bother me at all! All I've done to my glocks is a little bit of trigger spring, a connector, and lots of ammo.

                              If you're willing to spend $2000, shouldn't it be on a 1911?
