I would be very careful about buying a gun from someone just because they “upgraded” it. Often times it is not worth the original cost, let alone the “upgrade”.

Keep in mind the design engineers spent considerable time, money and computer power to get the original design right.

What makes some home mechanic think he can do better in his garage?

Now, having said that, I do have a full built ZEV 34 that I am very happy with. All depends on who does the work and what exactly was done, and of course what the gun will be used for.

As an example I see no value to an after market flared mag well or a super target trigger on a home defense gun.
I understand all that.. I wouldn't be doing any of the work myself and if I went forward with this project I'd send it out for stippling and just buy the zev stuff so not much of a one man garage project.

Just considering how much of a difference it would make for someone who dislikes the oem Glock feel

lol that's partly why I'm asking! Will it shoot and feel like a high quality 1911 or is it just gonna feel like the same Old glock

I'm toying with the idea of a red dot tacticool competition ready pistol and I don't know if I should Go this route, just use my p-01 or find and upgrade a cz tactical sport or something

I plan on getting work on my G34 in the near future. Not so much to improve my accuracy but to make it more aesthetically pleasing to me.

At $2000 levels you can go a nice CZ Tactical Sport, Tuned SP-01, 1911, 2011, USP, Sig 2XX. Paying $2000 for a tuned Glock seems silly.

It's very hard to spend $2000 on a Glock and have every penny address a functional performance return.

                Fit match barrel $250
                Trigger kit $250
                Stippling job $250
                New sights $100

Plus cost of whatever Glock you chose.

A lot of the cost is cosmetics for people who either don't know better or simply enjoy the aesthetics.

That said, I would love to build a custom Glock 19 for CCP after I hit masters in CDP this/next year.

@OP, I suggest you decide on its purpose before you move forward with the build.

                  The reason I bought a glock 19, was because I wanted a glock 19.

No. It's not worth the money. If you're looking for bang for the buck, as in value, you're throwing money away.

Is it nicer to shoot? Probably.

But if you have the means and the desire, go for it!

If spending an extra $2,000 will make you skip meals and bills, don't do it.

If $2,000 is chump change to you and you spend 5 times that on your Brioni suits, go for it!

why? don't. It is just a plastic gun. To be 100% honest, those modification on glocks are fugly as hell and I much prefer stock look of the glock; simple no nonsense fighting gun.

Been down that road, with glocks and m&p's. All i will do now is skatetape to the slide and trij hd's. Id like an X400V, but that extends far outside the stated purpose of this thread, nor is it a modification to the gun itself. If i were to send my slide off, it would again be to ATEi for serrations but in all honesty, i dont need them. As the great Bill Blowers said, you can use the most ramp damp smooth pistol sights on the market and still cycle your action one handed, which is true. Youll get bruised, but whatever

Adding an exhaust and intake to a honda civic isnt going to get you 500hp nor will it do 11sec in a 1/4.

adding a flash light and cutting the slide isnt going to make your glock feel or shoot better.

I am ok with stock Glocks. Usually the only thing I upgrade is the Sites.

                            $2,000..? That's 4 Glocks to me....

Also 2K buys a nice Dillon Reloading machine and plenty of components.

Think about resale value as well. A tricked out Glock won't fetch the money
                            You sink into it.

                            Of course, it's your choice.

When i think of some of the elements that are critical to using a pistol well i tend to focus on grip, sights, stance and trigger. As such, I do tend to try and improve the quality of trigger and sights. If i had a Glock i bet its what i would likely end up doing. Maybe a mag well if i competed with it. If i couldn't reach or reliably activate a critical functional component i would imagine i'd modify that as well. For myself that hasn't really been the case with the Glock. The extended mag release really gets in the way of my grip so that would be out.

You've obviously had a lot of experience with the platform already. Tailoring it to your specific and aesthetic needs and desires seems reasonable....to what end its tough to say.

I would imagine that if you competed in an open division Glock competition that many of these modifications would prove beneficial.

For myself, i'm probably more of a minimalist. The basics of trigger, sights and perhaps grip/magwell would likely be my focus. I don't think that would justify 2K

                                ...

... iv had a glock 21 sf, glock 42, and glock 43 and I wasn't a big fan of either of them and resulted in selling each and every one of them.

Do these upgrades really make the glock that much better? Would it make someone like Me who isn't a fan start to like them?

I have held one of those types of Glocks in my hand, and it did feel better, but just because it feels better does not mean it will shoot better.
