The only upgrades on a glock for me are:

    Mandatory:
    Sights
    Extended mag releaze
    Minus connector

Add a RMR at most and you are done.

As it looks like, a set up like that costs about $2000 for a gen 3 glock 19

Now I hate the feeling of oem glocks.. iv had a glock 21 sf, glock 42, and glock 43 and I wasn't a big fan of either of them and resulted in selling each and every one of them.

Do these upgrades really make the glock that much better? Would it make someone like Me who isn't a fan start to like them? Il admit they look cool as all hell but how much of a shooting difference will spending $2000 on a glock make?

Considering building one from a frame but not sure il end up liking it and finding one already upgraded to examine and shoot is a bit of a challenge
You've had 3 Glocks already and hated all of them. You are not a fan to begin with. Why would you want to go down that road? Spend less (or more) money on something you like.

Upgrading a Glock with $2,000, yeah of course. A $500 gun, $100 sights, and $1,400 worth of 9mm ammo. You should get the hang of it by then.
Buy made in USA whenever possible.

            NO.
I went down that rabbit hole because mine stopped cycling. I never really loved the 17c, but it was OK.
When it started binding up, I thought, why not. I'll make this thing purr by the time I'm done.
So now I have a stock receiver, compensated barrel and slide. The rest is all top dollar customized mechanical candy. ( I don't do eye candy)
            And guess What?
I now have a pretty nice gun that does nothing for me.
I don't sell guns and even if I did, no way I'd get my money out of this very good shooter.
Again, it still does nothing for me.

Glocks are the best combat-work guns IMHO. You add/upgrade it to your needs. That being said, I think all you need is a flashlight and night sights. Then take shooting/tactics courses and practice a lot. You will be more bad*** than someone who just shows it off but do not know how to shoot nor know anything about tactics. RMR's, triggers and other things are extra for luxury, but you do not really need it. Besides, spending $2000 on a Glock is like spending $20000 to upgrade your Honda Civic.

                For ME Glock upgrades:
                Sights
                Slight Trigger Guard Undercut
Extended Slide Stop (Easier reach for my hands)

I don't shame people who throw money at their Glock's because it's what makes THEM, the OWNER, happy. Glock's are a solid package for the money straight out the box. Spend extra money on ammo and training.

Upgrading sights, adding some talon grips, and changing out the connector with the OEM 3.5 pound (-) connector are my goto upgrades. Helps me find the target faster, keep a better grip of the firearm, and gives me a trigger pull that sits just over 4 pounds.

On my glock 19 I did upgrade the barrel to a KKM match barrel. I felt like I was fine shooting light brass at the range from 10 to 20 yards with the stock barrel, but when I started shooting from 25 and beyond there was a noticeable drop off in accuracy for me. I saw considerable improvement after swapping the barrels.

Keep in mind most of the things I mentioned (barrel included) can take the total investment into a glock to roughly $1,000. To me that's worth it because it's what I like to shoot and how I like to shoot it. I've experienced first hand never really getting what money I put into a glock back in the marketplace.

My high end 1911's and rifles, etc. all held their value considerably more than an upgraded glock. Personally when I see a zev glock or something like that in the marketplace, I just ignore it and move on.

                    $1k

I'm into this for almost exactly $1k. Hated the stock G19. Trigger was horrid and it beat up the knuckle on my middle finger, the texture in grip was useless and the sight were plastic dovetail protectors. Carved on it with a dremel, took a soldering iron to it, Agency Arms trigger, Trijicon HD and An Agency magwell and now it's one of my favorite handguns and never is out of reach 24/7. So I say yes, modified Glock's can make a Glock hater into a Glock owner. I've done three more for friends that hated Glock's.

                          Performance-wise, I don't think it's worth it.

The majority of people can't even squeeze the maximum potential of even a stock Glock! Mike Hughes, USPSA GM for Prod and Top Shot fame, competes using a stock Glock 19 to show people that it can be done...

That said, I'm actually saving up for a TTI Combat Master package for a Glock 34 (I just got my 3rd GSSF coupon and am waiting for Blue Label stock at my LGS). I already have a Glock 34 Gen 3, which I use for IDPA (only upgrades are competition sights, $0.25 trigger job, Talon Grip, and changing the slide release lever to a shorter one); this new one is just for "collection." Am thinking of the John Wicks 2 make! Based on research, I'm seeing a $1,500 damage and about a 6-month wait.

Just my $0.02 cents' worth, though...

Would you spend 4x the cost of anything you didn't like to have a better version of it?
If you know you don't like Glocks I don't really think it makes sense to do that.
For the $ you can get some very nice pistols so have fun shopping around.

for defensive use it's best to swap out the sights, but one of the reasons i've been a longtime fan of the Glock is that it's gtg from the box.

Cool factor is all about the owner. Some people like stock guns while others want some extra. In the last year I had to learn what I really wanted with my guns. If you don't like Glucks then stop bying them. Lipstick aint gonna make you like the pig, kid. Remember the words of a youtube guy "If it doesn't look cool, it literally does not matter."
