    P220?

Been thinking about getting a P220 for my collection
    I currently have a usp45

I would like some opinions on its function and reliability and how much is the average price for a used one

    Thanks in advance

    And pictures are greatly appreciated

I just purchased a P220 ST and it sure feels great in my hand. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but compared to how my USP Expert feels, it's like night and day. I realize I am not a polymer guy. Nothing beats the feel of a solid metal gun. I can't say much about the regular P220 with the alloy frame.

Great pistol, you will not be disappointed. Once you get used to DA/SA trigger and heavy first pull, you are gtg with any of the P series pistols. Price for a used one is all over the place. Good luck with that, just don't jump at the first one as tomorrow there we be two more.

I'm normally a 1911 guy but I picked up a P220 Carry a few years back. It is a great gun, reliable, accurate - every thing a gun should be. Compared to a 1911 the trigger sucks but then again nothing (IMHO) holds up against a 1911. I have seen used guns sell around $800 - $900 depending on number of mags, etc. I have seen them advertised much higher than that but you can pick one up new for a grand so why pay more for used.

It's a single stack so if you have medium hands like me, replacing the factory grips with Rosewood grips are perfect fit.
Shooting this thing is like driving a tank! as it's all stainless.

Circa late 1970s, Sig220 came to U.S. with the name, 'Browning' on the slide.

Sig made "It's bones", their reputation of reliability on the what is now called a 220. The early models had a different grip angle...and I don't recall if the early models had a euro or American mag release button.

As for collector...eeeh, as for shooter...any stock 220 of any year will shoot circles around 99.9% of all these custom 1911 being churned-out.

I plan on getting the 220 Combat in Oct and I like the feel of the gun. Look in the sale thread you can find some nice 220s for pretty good prices.

A P220 Carry is my primary CCW gun. You probably already know that there is no obnoxious LCI or ridiculous mag disconnect on the P220. I added a short reset trigger kit, some Dawson Precision fiber optic sights, and some VZ grips. Now it's perfect.

Functions perfectly and absolutely reliable. Can be found used for similar prices to your USP $750-$1000 depending...

As stated all steel so heavier a bit less felt recoil but a great pistol like the USP...no reason not to have both!!

I had a P220 Combat which I couldn't shoot (consistently) worth a darn. Sold it off, but decided to give the platform another try, and I'm glad I did. After shooting my Equinox I was more than happy to sell my CZ97B which a friend wanted - I just loved shooting the P220 so much more.

Well if you're lucky you might just find a nice used German made P220 for $500

Though I have seen most recently for $650 or higher.

If I were you I would keep my eyes open and be ready to jump when the right deal comes along.

                      Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

The Sig P220 is the only classic model Sig that does not have the LCI or MDS. That by itself is a win!!

I don't know if the P239 is a "classic model," but it doesn't have an LCI or mag disconnect either. Another great carry gun.

I'm casting 215gr boolits with a meplat so wide they barely fit in a 220 magazine. No problemo.

The things are reliable as the combat brick. My favorite feature is the frame mounted decocker & no safety.

The standard P220, P226, P228, P229 are the classic models. And yes, the P239 is a rock solid performer.
