    1911 advice

Ok so my very first 1911 was a half rail trp. Absolutely loved the gun. Some things came up a few years ago and I had to sell it. I was looking to replace it and ended up ordering a pro.

Here's where I need some advice. I'm looking for a 1911 for everyday carry. For around $1500. I would want a half rail or no rail. I'm only famaliar with the trp. Are there other ones for around that price I should look at?

Dan Wesson PM7 is worth a look

It has adjustable sights though, maybe not everyones favorite for EDC

If this place is legit and has them, this is a crazy good price https://www.gunprodeals.com/products...1-806703019000

    Most places are $1350+

          Dan Wesson CBOB
Its a Commander size 1911 and that rounded off bobtail makes it very comfortable for carry.

DW CBOB is a buttery smooth shooter. I shoot my CBOB as well as a 5 inch 1911.
A rail on a carry gun is not that helpful. For clearing a house/home then a rail is useful. With home defense guns, weight is not an issue either.
If I was going to carry a 1911 around though I would look for a light weight frame commander. An all steel 1911 is very heavy to lug around all day.
I have a great SW1911 PC lightweight commander that I will choose carry over my CBOB all steel commander 1911. But right now my CCW does not have any 1911's though.

I'm thinking about my previous one. That's absolutely right I don't need a rail for carry. And for home defense I have other go to guns this wouldn't be it.

That cbob looks really nice. Now as for my budget $1500 would that be my best option? I could spend more but I would like to stay around that. Especially for a carry that will get banged around I'd hate to spend a lot more. Will not be a safe queen.

Sorry for the noob style questions. But when it comes to 1911's I am a noob.

CBOB is very nice if you are not stuck on 5". I carry a commander size Nighthawk that is very similar to the CBOB. I have often thought about getting the CBOB to replace it for the reasons you mentioned (wear and tear on a carry gun) but I don't carry it very often, and it is hard chromed so pretty durable.

I would love to get a full custom 1911. Seeing some being $3-5k I would absolutely cry like a little school girl if I hit it somewhere carrying it.

It don't have to be a 5" as long as it's reliable. I had the Springfield Elmo and that thing kept stovepiping. That was going to be a concealed carry. I sent it in twice. Both times the gunsmith said it was fixed. Got it back and did it within the first 4-5 rounds. They ended up telling me to pick another gun I wanted and replaced it. 4" would be the shortest though. I don't want to try another 3".

As far as the cbob are they hard to come by? They only come in hard chrome?

CBOB is not hard chrome, just brushed stainless. That is the only way you can get it. You could send it out to have it hard chromed, that is what I did to the Nighthawk.

They are in stock at nearly every online vendor, should be easy to come by. I have ordered guns from all these sellers, they are good to go. Grab A Gun has it cheapest that I saw with a quick search. You might find it for less if you dig.

I have a 70 series Colt commander that is in a shootout with a kimber ultra 3inch for EDC.... Both 100% reliable,,, but the commander is a little better at double taps in the control dept.... But the Kimber weights less.. Another couple of range days side by side with a few hundred rounds through each of them should decide it... Either pistol would fit the job well... Cheers...
